    Phraseology is often a give away to the subconscious or partially hiding ones true position!
    It came as quite a shock when he was announced .. but within minutes I had checked out his time at Barnsley [where he sacrificed a promotion and and a winner at wembglee award/cup to join us his 2nd in command took those honours and has done nothing since except fail !] and thought OK he obviously knows how to organise etc etc and lets see what he can do.

    At this time it was a massive turning point for CITY, after 2 or goes at the 5 pillars etc etc it was a WSC. The realization of constant compensation, changes of personel due to management changes had to stop... the existing constantly modified what was now year 3 or 4 plan was replaced by "the plan"...
    top of the list was [ my guesses ] get profitable under FFP WITH A CLEAR RUN OF PROFITABLE YEARS!
    Maybe 2nd was a management structure that allowed for a head coach
    3rd A head coach who would not buck the trend of the master plan by throwing a wobbly because he was part of a plan to recycle players and so have to constantly re think! [5 year contract?]
    4th a team of background individuals that look to modern day techniques health welfare analysis etc etc
    5th was all the other stuff like stadium/training/ground share etc etc?

    I guess most of the contributors on OTIB are unable to understand stuff like that? but a common denominator of their abilities is " win ..ref ..lose... lost .. draw ...out …pub .. tea... beer …. Lee … stretching occasionally to lager .. cider .. glass "!

    RP I was aiming at some of the OTIB posters who just hurl insults at LJ and make up stuff and post it as ‘fact’.
    Whilst we don’t agree on much re: LJ at least you offer some examples to back up your arguments

    My second job was working for a family business so I did see plenty of nepotism....but water off a ducks back to me mate. I didn't have any hate towards them.I put it down to life experience... .I also went on to set up my own business and as for that family business, the owners died and the son basically dragged it down to closure.....so it's not all that is it?
    As you can tell, with my support for LJ.....it hasn't changed my view, I don't have any hate towards him....in fact I feel he has more pressure to prove himself....and in my eyes, he's doing a decent job.....good on him..

    Why are we allowing such a low profile football coach to create so much disharmony between us all, I've never known such a division between us fans, we are Bristol City FC supporters that should bring us altogether in a common bond, we don't all have to be members of the LJ fan club but we can still remain loyal to Bristol City, we were all here in the most before he came and god willing we will still all be here when he has long gone.

    Why waste time and vitriol over such an average character, he has never won anything, his record ~
    * Average Champioship/ league 1 player..
    * Average Championship/League 1 head coach..
    * Average Championship/League 1 football teams created.
    Honours ~
    Oldham Atheletic - None.
    Barnsley FC - None.
    Bristol City FC - None

    Not much of a CV.

    With a record like that I wouldn't have appointed him to my staff but he is our head coach, we are Bristol City FC and that is the team I support, so every win, every point gained I will shout well done LJ and the team, with the boring and negative style of football that is being handed out I have got every right to criticise but if he gets us promoted, I will dance in the streets and sing his name.

    I can be fickle either way but rest assured I don't hate or rate LJ.

    None of us hate him-we just don't believe he is the man to take our beloved club to the next level.

    That's why I say, it doesn't matter who he is and who his dad was or how he got the job, we should get behind him.....If he's average, then all the coaches before are well below average. ... His CV is keeping us in the 2nd tier of English football the longest since AD...An achievement rare at this football club..

    I'll never get behind LJ.

    If someone had told me I'd stop watching the team I'd supported for 50plus years I would have thought they were mad.

    On here and OTIB City fans are taking lumps out of each other.
    The fan base is divided and will stay that way until LJ leaves.

    Its very rare that a management appointment is met by universal acclaim by the entire fan base. The fans will still be divided when he leaves

    Loathsneyd - there was a similar polarisation under GJ for a while towards the final months of his tenure.
    The GJ ‘haters’ said nothing as we plummeted to League 1 after successive successors gave us a couple of seasons of relegation battles before we finally succumbed.
    I’d imagine something similar would happen if his son was replaced now.
    To some, being in League 1 is more palatable than knocking on the doors of the Prem under a Johnson.
    I’m a very simple fan - the league table is my guide to how well we are doing. That’s all that matters to me. Pretty football is a ‘nice to have’.

    SL was right to sack GJ. Who's to know City under GJ wouldn't have been relegated anyway, SL certainly thought so and that GJ's tenure had run its course.
    He's hardly had a stellar career since and currently managing in the Conference.

    And you 'imagine something similar: with his son now if he's replaced.
    Can you let me know your lottery numbers. <cheers>

    His target set by SL is year on year improvement, he’s achieved that , obviously each season the task is more difficult . With little room for error it may well explain why he has become increasingly negative in the way he sets the team up as he doesn’t want to risk losing . Im not sure whether SL has also insists this achieved whilst playing attractive football, I imagine not . So at present LJ is on target to once again achieve his goal for the season.
    I can’t see SL even considering LJ’s position whilst he continues to achieve his yearly targets , If we slip to mid table that could change the dynamic, but even then I’m unsure.
