There are rumours that South Africa will lay down and let Samoa beat them in the hope they finish second in the group which will lead to an easier route to the final. This would make it very difficult for Wales to then qualifer for the knock out stages!! Wales will need to win the last 2 games with a winning bonus point to stop this from happening. I can't see us getting a winning bonus point against Fiji to be honest. Espeically as we play Fiji after the SA Samoa game which will put added pressure on Wales. This is just a RUMOUR and you would think SA would not risk this, as they might not get through at all then. But after working out that we would need to winning bonus points to make sure we get through, I realised that Samoa COULD beat SA anyway and that would leave us in a tough position to get through!
Well its there last game of the groups next weekend, so only time will tell! They will almost defos put a weaker team out if we dont get a winning bonus point on monday.
usa just put a weakoned team out against us in order to try and get 3rd place by beating italy solely to qualify for 2015 WC - they lost 67-5
SA wont throw any match, why would they as if you are going to win the world cup then you have to beat the best to do it, in the group they will be in includes NZ and AUS that wont be easy, they wont care about wales and the QF group they will be in should they finish second, they wont want to be seen to throw a match at any time,
NZ and France could both field weaker sides to move into the 'easier' side of the draw too. Be a sad state of affairs if any team throw a game.
Would be terrible but I wouldnt but it past any of them to do it. Would love it if SA do it then we go on to get 2 bonus point wins and SA get knocked out!
Why don't the organisers play both the final fixtures in a group simultaneously! If a group was to be decided by a bonus point or try count, the team playing second has the big advantage of knowing whats needed. I know they want to maximise the number of games for TV but it does undermine the fairness of the group stage. FIFA have been doing this at the world cup since the 1980's FFS!!
Thats what should happen but it doesnt i think SA play Samoa on the friday then we play Fiji on the sunday? I think were at a disadvantage, if we need a bonus point win, it will put more pressure on us to get trys and we'll probs end up attacking too much and lose the game!
S.Africa have got such a win at all cost ethic bordering on the illegal and at least synical, it would not be in their nature to throw a game, based on the fact they dont give a toss who they play they are always supremley confident of winning..and in the world cup thats more often than not
Not a chance SA will throw a game. Too much pride in the team. They will want to win the WC by beating the best.
...I'm talking about the world cup , i know they had a bad tri nations but so did the all blacks (bad in the sense they didn't win it ) but in a world cup year nothing else matters to S.A. an they wont throw a game for the reasons i have stated and as the the worse they have ever done in a world cup is quarter finals then i rest my case
I’m sorry but there’s no way I can agree with you. If you’d watched THIS year’s Tri-Nations you’d know that South Africa “Threw” the game in Wellington by leaving 18 squad players at home. South Africa did so to enhance their chances at the World Cup & would do so again in the tournament if it was to more easily attain the goal of winning the tournament. I may seem cynical to quote you but, “S.Africa have got such a win at all cost ethic bordering on the illegal and at least synical” . So why wouldn’t they again then given their history this year if ment more chance of winning?
