    Pandamonium (deliberate misspelling).

Kung Fu Panda, the ultimate global superhero, because he is black, white and Asian.

Does anyone on here have an Amazon Echo?

We have in most rooms and I use the one in the kitchen for timers.

Is it just me, but when I set a timer I say "Alexa, set a timer for five minutes!" I say it in the style of the St Mary's match day announcer when announcing the amount of injury time left?

    Ok it is just me.

A computer died today aged 101. A human one. Her name was Katherine Johnson and outside of space tech circles she and her colleagues were practically unknown.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-51619848

Katherine was exceptional though. Before the days of quick and cheap computers [you had to buy time on them]. Katherine was doing calculations on rocket trajectories and burn times. She calculated orbits and what time was right and where to end the mission so that the capsule could safely return to Earth and splash down in a sea surrounded by recovery ships and boats. It is said that when IBM installed a big mainframe computer at NASA, and it made the calculations, Astronaut John Glenn wanted Katherine to check the figures. She did, and instead of rounding the numbers up to a few decimal places like the IBM computer did, she gave Glenn the precise figure. He was satisfied with that. Her story is told in the excellent film, Hidden Figures.

Oddly enough I just rewatched this movie yesterday. I’m sure it is dramatized but it is amazing how smart those people were.

Brilliant film about some amazing ladies and the appalling prejudices they faced.

A weasel walks into a bar. The bartender says “Wow, I’ve never served a weasel before. What can I get you?”

    “Pop,” goes the weasel.

Influenza has killed about 20 times as many people in the US alone than Coronavirus has killed in China. I’m more worried about flu to be honest .....

Has he had his flu jab? The Coronavirus targets primarily the old and the weak (so I’m ****ed) and I still feel that the panic is blown out of proportion. However, naturally, we are all concerned about our families. Hopefully it won’t mutate or become a real pandemic. Personally I’m more worried about the amount of meat shot full of antibiotics which is likely to hit the food chain in this country next year when we open the market to non-EU regulated meat and the effect of “superbugs” resistant to antibiotics ....... :emoticon-0101-sadsm
I’m fact the more I think of it, the more I’m thinking of taking myself out into the wilds for more than the 2 months I’m doing next week and hoping to keep away from all of that “stuff” :emoticon-0105-wink:

He didn't get the flu jab because of how sick it made him last winter. He's very independent, avoids large crowds, and doesn't socialise much. And that has served him well thus far.

I have to add, I'm a big fan of Pangolins as well. And how they have been treating in the East is appalling. Trapped, trafficked & skinned alive, it makes my blood run cold. If this is natures pay back, then I'd suggest its been in the post for a while.
