It's not, for people who have been following him for years, like most Brits. Americans, however, hadn't heard anything about him until he fought and beat their champion. Thats how most Americans roll, they learn **** all about **** all, until it directly impacts them.
Fury has a dark past, he’s said lots of stupid things but it’s how he’s turned his life around that has got people on his side now.
My problem with Fury is I think I've only ever seen him fight once, that was against Klitchko (down the pub). With all the big fights behind the paywall there is no access...(I'm not paying 25 quid). I tried Quaads link (a few pages back) but it's gone. He might be the best heavyweight since Lennox but he won't get the recognition because few can watch it.
So Tyson Fury isn't exactly PC ... who'd have thought it? ... what with him being an Oxbridge educated, vegan, campaigner for human rights and a fierce critic of global warming. ... bloke was brought up in a reclusive, often I'll educated community, where scores are settled with bare knuckles and face to face ffs. Has had his demons and been to the dark side but if he has truly given his whole purse to charitable causes, I am happy to cut him some slack ... you don't have to agree with his views to respect him as a skilled exponent of his trade and also admire his philanthropic gestures.
AJ is not ****e. You don’t win an Olympic gold medal by being ****e. You don’t win belts by being ****e. His career has not been that well managed imo. He seems to have made the mistake others have made before, having become an Olympic champion, turned pro, signed a big money deal, and been fooled into thinking he’d done all the hard work - whereas in reality it was just beginning. But to say an Olympic gold medalist is ****e? Don’t be silly. There’s a reason why the whole world wants to see Fury vs Joshua, and it’s not because either of them are “****e”.
I agree, I think it would be a very good contest and closer than many are predicting ... but I do think that Tyson Fury would have too much guile and ring craft for AJ.
No, I am being dramatic, of course, he isn't ****e, relative to me, for instance, he'd take my head off within 10 seconds. But compared to other boxing greats of the last 30 years, ie Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Klitchko, Fury.....I think he is somewhat overhyped, and I definitely agree that he has been mismanaged. It's the same with footballers. Like United fans who said Fellaini was ****e, objectively, no Fellaini wasn't ****e at football, he was very good, he just wasn't a great player.
He absolutely stank the place out on every card after turning pro, that's true. That big BBC deal ruined him.
I know right. When people say a footballer is ****e, they dont mean it literally! No Premier League footballer is ****e, otherwise they wouldn't be a Premier League footballer! Its the same with other sports.
Clearly hes not ****e, but he is thee most boring boxer ive ever seen in and out of the ring. Just a good looking frank bruno, fury will tear him up imho
Andreas Pereira is genuinely ****e. I was delighted to see that neither him or Lingard made the match day squad yesterday.
