A bit unfair guys. Connolly has been injured for much of the last 2 years. He was due to go on loan to Hull a year ago then was held back as Morro got injured.

He is probably our longest serving player and has put in good service over the years at right and centre backs.

He scored a few goals by loitering at the back post for set pieces, a tactic we should consider again when everyone charges to the front post or middle of the goal. How often does the ball sail past the back post with no one stood there?

I think his contract is up at the end of the season. He can move on to earn a few bob elsewhere. If he has another year then settle up as we have done for less loyal and poorer players and again let him move on.

    Any Ronnie Moore replica tops?
I am not a Cardiff fan, but remember Ronnie knocking two past us at Roker park when I was a yoof, always liked him since then, which is rather strange as he ended our promotion hopes that day. Like the Cardiff fans as well, served with some cracking lads from South Wales.

    All the best.

If that was the 1979 game it was Ray Bishop and Ronnie Moore on target with Ron Healey saving a penalty.

SAFC went up the next year though and came down in their droves to Ninian Park.

Looks good for a return to the championship this season?

Aye mate that is correct, it was Moore and Bishop. Beat West Ham on the Monday night after they had played in the FA cup final. Was a total lockout, a great night.

Fingers crossed for this season, still a lot of football to be played, it's incredibly tight at the top of league one. I was at the cardiff game when it was 1-1, my mother took me, was an incredible turnout, don't think there was one bus returned to the Northeast with all it's windows intact, got in for nowt as well, there was hardly any turnstiles open, supporters took the liberty of removing the wood from locked turnstiles, and I was systematically bundled across the unmanned turnstile.

Sounds like a tip top day out for a kid.... Glad it still sticks in your memory.

Good luck for the rest of the season :emoticon-0148-yes:
