I'm genuinely curious how it would work. Putting the sensor in is the easy bit but there are so many variables. How does the sensor pick up when the ball leaves a teammates foot, for example, you could say the sensors 'speak' to each other but the pass may come from a header or a deflection. It's interesting.

Like I said, I'm no expert - I just think it must be possible in principle.
Thinking about the problem, I wondered how possession percentages are arrived at, whether somebody physically recorded changes of possession on a timer or some other method was used.
    I found this:
This doesn't seem at all foolproof to me, and goes some way to explaining why those percentages often seem wrong.
Having said that, does any of it really matter? It's this obsession with statistics that gives birth to mutant babies like xG and such.

The possession thing is easy, not necessarily an accurate picture but easily calculated. In the studio for the post match analysis they have a chart of passes, shots etc. - come to think of it the BBC have one too - eg Liverpool 728 passes, Atleti 280 equates nicely to 72% and 28% possession.

Man City have reported an official attendance of 74,823 with gate receipts of £43m

Chief executive Ferran Soriano says reports of empty seats are 'simply not true' and City's lawyers will act against any journalists suggesting otherwise

I don't get this - surely attendances and gate receipts are a matter of record and can't be argued one way or the other?

Their owners have probably bought 30,000 season tickets to boost figures; attendance and finance

Both Ben Dover and Jim Pansie have huge families they buy 10,000+ season tickets for.

I think the invisible man and his family are heavily involved as well.

What is everyone’s predictions for top 5? (Just in case 5th is important this season)

top 3 is done: Liverpool, City, Leicester

    4th Wolves
5th strange this but. Can see Everton or Arsenal sneaking up on the pack.

Spurs have injury problems now, Utd would be in it if they had Rashford and still easily could be in the mix....but they just lose or draw random games that they shouldn’t.

So hard to call this season the problem is 4th and below have no consistency what so ever I think it will come down to whoever can put a run of 5 or 6 wins in a row together

<laugh> I could see Everton putting a little run together with Ancelotti in charge he could make all the difference.

Wolves aren't much better, and they've only won 8 games all season. I'd like Wolves to be up there, but I can't see it happening.

After being a top side in recent times Napoli are now in mid table in Serie A, 24 points off top.

Ancelotti is a great manager......the question remains....what's he doing at Everton? :bandit:
