I think Berb played well on Tue night, pulled the strings and also a special mention regarding Owen even though 1st goal was a scuff.. Heres my team selection: Da Gea Smalling Evans ( Vidic if ready ) Jones Evra Giggs Nani Young Anderson Rooney Berb Hernandez on later sub, with Valencia... Thoughts?
Fergie sticks by him tho, dont think Chic will start, could possibly throw on Giggs and have Rooney on his own, Welbeck fit again so who knows...
De gea Smalling jones vida evra Nani ando fletcher young Rooney Wellbeck Well see Hernandez at some point. Stoke away is always hard for any team but they did push through 120 minutes midweek against the spuds so hopefully we can catch em tired.
hasnt rio been declared fit agin?? i'd put him in if he has .... De gea evra rio evans jones - rb young anderson fletcher nani rooney welbeck
My selection too... I wouldn't play Berb unless we were in trouble and needed a Plan B. He is too slow and our sucess so far has been based on pace.
I'm a big admirer of Berbs but I wasn't impressed on Tues. I saw his reassignment to CB as punishment for a fairly lethargic performance. If Rio is fit, I'd go with: De Gea Smalling - RB - extra height, Stoke are a big team. Jones - CB Rio Evra Anderson Carrick - a better fit with Anderson than Fletch Young Nani Rooney Owen or Welbeck (assuming Hernandez isn't ready yet) The system we've been playing works best with an out and out striker sitting on the shoulder, i.e. not Berbatov This prevents the opposition defence from pushing too far up and creates space between defence and midfield for Y-R-N to work their magic.
Smalling is off, declared unfit. I would play fletcher instead of Carrick and Wellbeck ahead of Owen.
agreed, berb is an excellent player, but the way we have played this season isnt the way berbs plays. pace is key, with everyone working hard to get the ball back when lost. for me he should only be used this season if our normal game plan isnt working and we need to change up the way in which were attacking games
Apparently Hernandez is fit and Smalling is only a slight doubt. Vidic is definitely out though. http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2011/Sep/Hernandez-could-face-Stoke.aspx
De Gea Jones Rio Evans Evra Nani Carrick Anderson Young Rooney Owen I don't think Welbeck or Hernandez should be risked starting, and Michael Owen's performance Tuesday deserves a shout to get into the XI Saturday.
I'm hoping Danny is 100%, he'll cause Stoke a lot of problems, Chico maybe as a late sub, but they have a few legbreakers that could go after Chico in a bad way. Wellbeck's got the physical game down.
For me the Rooney/Hernandez combo is the most exciting attacking partnership (of any team) I have seen in the premiership for a very very long time. With them on, you sense United could score with every attack. Once the win is secured, I would put MO on.
