Good Morning. Its Wednesday 19th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Danny Mills - Time is running out for Bamford

Ex Leeds and England defender Danny Mills has been speaking to the press regarding Bamford and his current form. The 26yo has netted once in the last 10 games, and although the former Boro man offers more than your conventional striker, the lack of goals is the most worrying aspect of Leeds game at the moment.

“Bamford plays an exceptional role for the team,” “His work rate and everything else is superb.

“But there has to be a point where a centre-forward’s job is putting the ball in the back of the net. He is missing more than anybody else.

“There will become a point. It must be hard for Bielsa because everything is going right and Bamford if doing everything asked of him but it is not going in the back of the net.

“If he plays Jean Kevin-Augustin and he is not doing what Bamford does, it may affect the dynamic of the team.

“I understand the fans’ frustrations. But Bielsa is thinking that we are playing so well (so why change).”

Beckford - Leeds should have signed Nahki Wells

Jermaine Beckford believes Leeds missed out on a bargain, letting Nahki Well slip through their fingers.

Speaking on Talk-Sport, the former Leeds idol believe that the 29yo would have ticked ticked all the boxes for Leeds.

Bristol City snapped up Wells in the January transfer window for 5m from Burnley, albeit he was on loan at QPR scoring goals for fun.

"If you are a Leeds United number nine, that's massive pressure in itself,” “You know every game you are going to be judged whether you score one, two or three goals, not how many assists you get. That's been one of the biggest issues this season.

“Talking about forwards. Nahki Wells was available for £5 million. For me, when he was at QPR for the first half of the season, he scored a lot of goals.

“To know somebody was available, with Championship experience on the back of scoring how many ever goals he scored was a little bit baffling to myself as to why they didn't reach out and try to grab him on board.

Would you have been satisfied if Leeds had bought Wells?

Do you think the majority of the Leeds fans would have been satisfied has Wells signed for the Whites.

With 13 games to go, how many points will be needed to go up?

There are 13 games to go that could define our future for decades to comes. Realistically how many points do you think Leeds will collect from their remaining games?

    Reading (H)
    Boro (A)
    Hull (A)
    Huddersfield (H)
    Cardiff (A)
    Fulham (H)
    Luton (H)
    Blackburn (A)
    Stoke (H)
    Swansea City (A)
    Barnsley (H)
    Derby (A)
    Charlton (H)

How many points this season will guarantee automatic promotion?

How strong is the Championship this year, compared to previous seasons?

    Morning all...

I think the Championship has reached a plateau, the best players are always snapped up by the PL leaving a fairly level playing field. We’re lucky in that we held on to our best this season. 11th is only 5 points off the playoffs...

The chasing back have all got to play each other I think we’ve only got to face Fulham and Blackburn, Reading have 7 players out at the minute, taking nothing for granted but on paper that’s definitely winnable. Brentford have to play Fulham, WBA, Preston, Blackburn, points shared or dropped between many of them.

Fulham likewise, they’ve also got to face WBA, Bristol City and Preston. I think we’re in a great position, it’s ours to lose

Morning all. Wells cost 5m so likely wasn't even on the famous list of achievable targets orta showed to Bielsa. Were skint. Anyway Mills only saying what is patently obvious to most. Something has to give on the striker front. PB scored one in last ten games, if he repeats that for next ten, its highly unlikely well be in top two. Simple as that

I keep hearing this 1 in 10 tosh.

Perhaps I imagined the brace against Millwall?

2 out of 5 to me sounds far more accurate & less dramatic. The rest of the team scoring 2 in the last 5 is equally accurate & far more dramatic.

But why let facts get in the way of the incessant abuse aimed at our striker? Our striker.

Getting sick of this. People relentlessly falling over each other to have a go. Some supporters. <doh>

Agree WJ to an extent. It's the same with Augustin only playing 3 games in 8 months. That 8 months includes the summer when there is no football. Reality is that he made 10 Bundesliga appearances since the beginning of October. Most of them sub appearances on the right wing which kind of explains his lack of goals.

Re. Bamford, yeah your right its 2 goals in 5. The issue I have is that he probably should have had alot more than 2. Saying that, he might have put in his best performance last weekend and rightly got a standing ovation. Still should have scored though

What I don't get is why do all these hearings take so long. Same with the Derby and Sheff Wednesday fiascos as it was with QPR a few seasons back when a decision only reached on last day of season. I know there's evidence to put together but murder trials would be sorted quicker than this lot move

I wouldn't even contemplate trying to guess how many points we'll get. Most of those games are going to be exactly like Bristol City last Saturday, 10 men in their box and us trying to break them down. Hell, even after they went a goal down they didn't come out to play! It's going to be torture for us fans on the run in, we'll batter most teams but they will all be trying to do a Wigan. Btw, it's a Scuttery Day here in Dublin too. :emoticon-0114-dull:

Well I came up with 27 points from the last 13 games, which includes 3 points in the home game vs Fulham - and with everyone else taking points off each other that would suffice.

However, lose the Fulham game and it's too close to call <yikes>

Farcical it's taken this long and farcical if he gets a ban IMO. But calling the EFL a bunch of cheating bent bastards(in Spanish) won't have helped his cause either..<laugh> The ironic thing, if he gets a ban (a part from making a lot of fans happy) the EFL might be doing us a favour. <ok>

My mantra this season has been to use the old cliche take each game as it comes. But I've been finding myself looking at all the remaining 13 games. On paper we could beat all of those teams, but there are some derby games, some against teams fighting relegation and some looking to get into the play offs. So actually I can't make a prediction and I'm going back to taking each match as it comes...

If he's found guilty I doubt he'll play for us again this season. The penalty should be deportation just to make sure :emoticon-0136-giggl

Sorry Shaks I know you like him <whistle>

I don’t think he’s a good goalkeeper but I worry that those behind him are worse.

lies damn lies damn lies and statistics. He has only scored in one of the last ten games (he just scored twice in it!)

or... as you say he has 2 goals in 5

just depend what your narrative is

that said wells at 5m was decent business... proven scorer at this level and done so recently
