Probably would mean lads like myself will find it virtually impossible to get match tickets If in pl. I actually expect that anyway unfortunately
We can always go and watch Harrogate town... On a side note, I just got my ticket for the Udders game in the SS...
Pretty sure things would remain as they are now WJ. The PL rule is a minimum of 3000 or 10% if your ground holds less than 30000, another new rule is that one block must be pitchside which we comply with. We currently offer around 2700 tickets to away fans in the southern end of the West Stand. This enables our match day operations to run as smoothly as possible from a policing and safety aspect, away fans coaches, minibuses use the car park directly opposite the turnstiles and the area around that part of the West Stand is a sterile area (no home fans) for about 90 mins before and 30/45 mins after the match. Although these rules are relaxed when the opposition fans are deemed little to no threat. Special dispensations are available though. Wolves for example have been given permission to only supply 2700 tickets to away fans even though they have 31,700 capacity. That horrible club from over the pennines offer an allocation of 3000 for away fans (from a capacity of 75,000), Tottenham 3000, West Ham 3000 etc etc. If the PL start getting pernickety then it only takes Leeds City Council and/or West Yorkshire police to quote health & safety reasons for the number to be slightly reduced as others have previously done, also don't forget the allowance for disabled supporters who sit elsewhere is also to be included.
On your behalf I've just emailed Mr Kinnear suggesting a new tier of membership; Platinum for £200 per season with an exclusive period for buying tickets. Don't bother to thank me as always happy to help
His response was that he initially thought £200 a bit excessive until I explained how much whinging and whining some people do. The matter is now under serious consideration. It’s about the occasional supporters contributing on a more equitable basis given how much they drag the club/ team down.
Think I might have dropped the ball on that one. Probably shouldn't have mentioned about you not wanting us to qualify for the play offs if we miss out on auto's Obviously I pointed out you were just being realistic and trying to save us the agony of the inevitable defeat. Anyway on a serious point...whichever league we're in next season then ticket availability will still be an issue. Many have today missed out on tickets for Huddersfield (even with gold membership) and that's both disappointing and a little unjust. Putting membership prices up would just be rewarding those with the deepest pockets and so perhaps we need a system similar to the match day token scheme that used to be in place in the 70's. Any ideas out there as to the best and fairest way to distribute the approx 10,000 tickets per home game that are available ?
I mentioned it elsewhere but our supporters club managed to get 41 tickets for it. A few more orders like that would bore a fair hole in the 10k available. Have a couple of Liverpool supporting mates who travel regularly but have to deal with touts. They told me of one guy who has a pocketful of season tickets that he sells on for every game at a nice profit. Id hate to have to resort to that for tickets
