<peacedove>Do you prefer Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll or Luis Suarez and Craig
Bellamy in attack. The arrival of Craig Bellamy seems to give the manager some
selection problems.Except Andy Carroll's form improves he is likely to be on the
    bench for some games.<ok>

At the risk of being one of the forum spelling Nazis...<whistle> its Craig

There'll be games through the season where each will get chances to start but for me this weekend Bellamys earned his chance <ok>

Craig deserves a start at the weekend for the way he played wed
Like mentioned unless Carrol improves he will find himself on the bench a lot,but at the same time it is not Andy who needs to change it is the rest of the team as well. When Andy is on the pitch it is the highball thing and straight away he has the back 3-4 on his case. No it needs to change to pass and move.As we have seen we can play that way so why not play like that when Carrol,is on the pitch

I agree but at the same time, I feel the rest of the team aren't convinced that Andy is capable of playing the same game so are forced to lump it to him. His basic touch and control is really poor.

Bellamy should start ahead of Carroll regardless of who we play or circumstance. He's a better footballer, seems to be in form, links well with the rest of the team and suits our style of play.

Probably because at the moment when it's played into his feet it's ending up bouncing 15 yards in the opposite direction :D You're right about the long ball thing and as a team we used to do the same when Crouch played however if Kenny bought him to act as a target man then he's going to have to learn to hold the ball up and give others time to join the attack from midfield. I still think he'll come good IF he puts his heart and soul into things but for now Bellamys going to suit the pass and move style better IMO.

Carroll seems to be turning into a white elephant, so Bellamy.

Yeah but I remember being a bit miffed when we were linked with him returning and someone (Luvgonz I think) said he could make a good stop gap while we look for the ideal player. I think while he's still got such a good turn of pace he'll be a good squad player for a couple of seasons. I'll be happy if my initial misgivings prove wide of the mark <ok>

Of course Carrol needs to learn to hold up the ball more that is something that only Andy can change but the team could and should help him out. I think with Stevie coming back in that will help Carrol as Stevie's through balls are class

Yes he will come good<and i agree that Bellers should be on the pitch before Carrol

Yeah I actually think Carroll could benefit most from a fully functioning Stevie G simply because of his inate ability to find the right ball at the right time. Plus I think if Bellamy is successful it might take a lot of pressure off Andy and give him some much needed breathing space. What Carroll does have is time on his side but as you alluded to...its only going to be his attitude and desire that will decide whether or not he is a success or a failure from here on in.

I'd like to see Bellamy play this weekend. At home to Wolves we should be controlling the game and taking it to them. Nice free flowing football, and I think having Bellamy and Suarez up front together would work really nicely. They're both so busy I think we could dominate them and hopefully bang in a few goals to make up for the Spurs game. I am a bit worried Henry might do something stupid, but hopefully not.

Look we've last our last 2 premier league games, a change is needed. Craig deserves a start and I think he will, I can see him and Suarez linking up very well once they have a few games under their belt. I for one will be disappointed if Carroll starts.

It's about time we start scoring for fun. Carroll can get his chances when we are ahead by at least 3 goals from now on. <ok> :D

Bellamy to start for me- for all of the aforementioned reasons.
I too was reluctant to have him back but am happy to admit being wrong if he continues to do well.
With Carroll it just isn't working- I've nothing personal against the lad, I hope he comes good, but we can't afford to keep dropping points trying to force a system that doesn't get results.
Maybe we could bring him on late on in games that we are already comfortably in control of, when we may have the opportunity to experiment a little and get it right.

Totally agree about trying to force a system on the team to make more use of him I reckon we're better to give him time to adjust to OUR system but I guess that can only happen if we keep winning without him. On your point about bringing him on when we're comfortable I actually think he risks getting lost in these situations. When comfortable, teams have a tendency to push less and just play keep ball and I fear Carroll will just get bypassed in these situations.
At the moment I think he may be better suited to the "Charge of The Light Brigade" situations where we are piling forward in numbers and having to get the ball upfield quickly to salvage a point or get a win. I may be wrong but I just think he'll get much more confidence from scoring a couple of winners than getting the third or fourth in a 4-0 romp.
Then again I guess any goal is better than none :D

I take your point, I just want us to start winning again. I don't care who plays as long as we get results.
I worry that there's a feeling that we have to make it work with Andy because we spent so much on him, but in the long run success on the pitch is worth far more.

    Why not all three?
Suarez on the left, Bellamy on the right and Carroll up top.
You can then have a midfield trio of Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson.
    Something like this.
    Carroll.
    Suarez Bellamy.

    Henderson.
    Gerrard.
    Lucas.

Just because the system we play when Andy's on the pitch doesn't seem to be working.
I'd sooner see a line-up of Suarez, Bellamy and Kuyt-and keep the ball on the floor most of the time.
The combination of Suarez, Kuyt and Maxi worked well at the end of last season and was great to watch.
I'd bring Bellamy in for Maxi simply because he seems to be on fire at the moment.

Where have all the Andy Carroll lovers gone? Have people finally realised that he is a big donkey?
