Gyan is a strange one -he is definatly not one you can put in a box so to speak - not sure what I think of him and this entire episode -genuine guy -greedy twat -nice bloke -lying idiot anyway, here is the story: As reported in the Echo, little Billy Ellison had been begging his dad Carl to get his favourite playerâs name put on the back of his red-and-white shirt. But just days after Carl forked out £30 for the strip, it was announced Gyan had left Sunderland for United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain. Gyan has since seen the Echo story and has now invited Billy and Carl to Ghanaâs friendly with Nigeria on October 11 at Watfordâs Vicarage Road ground, a rearranged match originally postponed due to the riots in London. Gyan wrote on micro-blogging website Twitter: âTo Billy re, sunderland echo, i will be back at SAFC very soon and whenever im in da uk, i will sign ur top 4 u. âPls dont be upset. God bless.â (sic) He also said that someone should put Carl in touch with his management so that Billy can get his shirt signed by his hero. Gyan added: âDont want to see any child upset over me. I have a child so i know what its like.â (sic) Several Sunderland AFC fans have left comments on Twitter praising Gyan for offering an olive branch to Billy. The story was even picked up by African website Ghana Soccernet. Billyâs mum Kirsty, 30, said: âHis manager rang last night and she said he wants Billy to go Ghanaâs game with Nigeria. âShe said heâll take time out to see Billy and sign his shirt and also give him a signed Ghana shirt. âBilly is dead excited. Heâs over the moon and itâs brilliant.â Carl, 33, added: âI think itâs a nice thing for him to do. âMy argument was more with the football club rather than Gyan. âBut for your modern footballer to get in touch like this is quite refreshing. âThe guy has had so much bad press over the move. âBillyâs probably going to have to learn that footballers do move on all the time.â
How about donate a weeks wages to the poor little kid. It's just a shirt, could have possibly asked the club for a refund? Looks like a mountain being made out of a molehill here, a bit Pafetic.

yep it is. Mountain out a molehill or not (thats the media, not the young lad or gyan), inviting the lad down to get the shirt signed is a surprising move for a modern footballer and a very nice gesture.

the media decides which stories to print, the family didnt force the media to print it. if the media thought it was pathetic, they wouldnt have printed it.
Spot on. The cynic in me sees an empty gesture from a footballer who has seen the whole UK press basically say 'what the ****'. Giving a Ghana shirt and ticket to a lad that he will receive complimentary anyway, looks like a PR stunt rather than a grand gesture. Great for the young un, for sure, but means **** all to me, as a season ticket buying lover of Sunderland Association Football Club. Get ****ed Asamoah.
Gyan wouldnt have even had to do anything, it would be his brain washing management team who will be on massive amounts of cash now thanks to the engineerred moved they brain washed Gyan to take so they could all get rich. I honestly think Gyan has had the wrong people around him who are greedy for more money and it wouldnt surprise me if his family were greedy for more money also. The gist of the story boils down to one thing, Greed and nothing else.
