As i have mentioned before i get texts from the Henderson stable. They do not often give one of their own out but tomorrow have given me both Pym and Valtor.
Gowran 2.19 Fakir 12-1 (pp 5 places) Will forgive the unseat the last day was travelling well til.that point has won previously on heavy (christmas) .the boy Oakeys only ride sure to go close .
One that could go in at a price for me ascot 3.00 Garo de juilley always seem to race in good company, been chasing reverts to hurdles on a good mark paddy on board.
Another at a big price today and I’m happy to be shot down is Janika loves heavy ground. On my travels to Cheltenham over the last couple of years all everyone wanted to talk about was janika I didn’t see it I didn’t get it I thought they were mad. Well maybe today’s the day.
Todays Scoop 6/EW Lucky 63/Acca: 1:50 Ascot - Danny Whizzbang 7/1 2:05 Haydock - West Approach 4/1 2:25 Ascot - Ballyoptic 10/1 2:40 Haydock - The Pink'n 9/1 3:00 Ascot - Malaya 9/1 (4 places) 3:15 Haydock - One For Arthur 11/1
3.00 Ascot. Nordano. 15/2 Hills Dropped in class after being beaten by both Goshen and Allmankind; gets the 4 year old allowance; and has the strong assistance of Coleman riding right on his minimum weight. 4.10 Ascot. Normandy Soldier. 8/1 Hills Went close at Taunton last time. Pedigree suggests he’ll stay forever on this softened ground ;and good claimer Brian Carver again takes the ride. Worth each way singles and double. Both should go close.
Assuming it goes ahead here are my bets for today: Haydock 2.05pm Emitom 6/1 each way 3 places (got on earlier in week). Has a lot of class.. Haydock 3.15pm Pobbles Bay 22/1 each way 4 places Anything can happen in the slogfest national trial and can't see many finishers in it. Thought his run was ok in Welsh national and has a real featherweight.. Good luck all!
Not sure if action will go ahead at Gowran, surely must be in two minds with heavy rain forecast along with the high winds, although we are to escape the worst of the wind on the East side today I believe. Enough of the meteorology for now. Strongly fancy Miss Cognac 13/2 in the 2. 19 today. She beat a horse I rate highly the last day on heavy ground in Limerick with consummate ease and I feel she has scope for more improvement even after the handicapper's assessment. Eoin Walsh helps by negating 7lb off her back and I feel with conditions once more in her favour, she will be tough to beat. Southerner is another form horse, I feel he is likely to be following Miss Cognac home, I don't have the confidence to predict forecasts given it's a large field Irish handicap on bottomless ground, but, I'll be dissapointed if Miss Cognac isn't fighting out a finish here today given how takingly she won the last day and the other one isn't close behind. Best of luck.
Nice to see you up and about, Tam. How's it going (apart from the pain of having to watch a Dyche team, obviously).
Welsh Saint in the Pertemps Qualifier - could be chucked in off 134 and will be trying to win to ensure he gets into the final
As soon as I posted, the wind kicked from 2nd gear up into 4th within the space of 20 minutes, I am going to make a not so bold prediction and say Gowran will be abandoned by 12.30. It will be too dangerous and added to the forecast rain will make running conditions too dangerous today.
Hi Rainer. Apart from DOALS- dreaded old age lurgy syndrome- I’m plodding on, thanks. I hope you and family are OK and still kicking in the winners. Re. Burnley, you’re spot on. It’s painful and masochistic just watching them. I’ve seen better midfields in cow herds, not to mention their devastating strikers suffering from MS- mustn’t shoot! Still, they’ll probably just avoid relegation....I hope. Apologies for talking about football on a racing site. I’m not enamoured by Cheltenham having become the be all and end all of National Hunt- instead of the icing on the cake. Too much mediocrity throughout the season and trainers running top horses only 3-5 times a year. Poor old Stalbridge Colonist would turn in his grave, having run 15 times in a single season! Look after yourself..Kind regards, John
Hi Tam - nice to see you take an interest again I had a long look at Nordano but I'm not so sure he wants the conditions he'll be getting. The Con Man is my admittedly tentative choice! Good morning other peeps, here are your avoiders for today: I am really keen on the French raider Rockadenn in the Victor Ludorum at Haydock, all his last 4 wins were comfortable, even the one where he only won by a head. He seems to revel in soft heavy ground, and I'm sure they aren't bringing him here just to sight-see. He has been running over further recently, but has won over 2m, and although he seems to be a hold up horse (not ideal) he made his mind up to get to the front early over 2m at Cagnes-Sur-Mer and was almost caught. Entered in the Triumph (who isn't) I doubt he'd get these conditions at Prestbury in March, but today he is worth a good bet IMO Others to laugh at are The World's End and Lord Du Mesnil at Haydock and Sam Brown and Valtour at Ascot, where surely Cyrname will canter all over his rivals? Good luck all
With the cracking form Luke Morris is in, I think a wager on his only 2 rides of the day at Newcastle tonight (Dennis permitting) is worth a go. 6.30pm - Big Lachie 6/1 7.00pm - Quiet Night 50/1 Singles and e/w double Good luck today if punting, if anything survives the storm that is!
Cyrname could very well canter all over his rivals but it would be very difficult to find a more topical winner today than ridersonthestorm..
