Which was technically right, as it was offside. Not surprised the players on the pitch were unaware you can still be offside from a ball going backwards.
FFS, Peter Walton saying there will be a margin of error next season - then they'll argue about the margins still being offside/onside, and the first time Mane or Salah is deemed to be onside under the new rules they'll all want it changed again. What they really want is Howard Webb back.
That was a subjective decision. They should never overturn the onfield ref's decision unless they see something the ref didn't. Like the ****ers did to Bobby's goal against Uniturd when VAR said VIrgil hadn't attempted to challenge for the ball when De Gea dropped it, even though the on field ref gave a goal. Offside is objective, either is or isn't. And it was.
What I find funny is that all this talk about how VAR is ruining football and how our title will be tainted, yet City are finally punished for cheating. It may not be seen as diving, or something petty. This is clear, outright, blatant cheating on a huge scale. I get there are clubs which are richer than others but you still have to abide by the rules. It still pisses me off that we lost the title by a point last season despite competing against these cheaters.
Huge news for City, but the cynic in me expects the fine to be reduced and admission back in on appeal.
but ,as I pointed out pre season , they don't have the technology to be fully accurate and the margin of error is greater than many of the offside decisions given by Var . I accept it for what it is as i never wanted VAR so it is just living down to my expectations .
yeah, they'll get a bigger fine and five years suspended, and Infante will be richer by an equal amount that Mansour will be poorer.
Infantino should also face consequences for his involvement the first investigation. So, a slap on the wrist inbound for him.
