Loved Rafa, I think we all did. A throwback to the days when we could just randomly sign a potentially washed up, slightly tubby Dutchman from Real Madrid because his wife wanted to move to London, and it would work out a dream. He was an absolute joy to watch in a Spurs shirt and you can tell he has a real sweet spot for the club.
Didn't his wife refuse to move to England, which resulted in him leaving, them splitting up anyway and him hooking up with her mate?
I thought she wanted to come here for hospital treatment or something then it came out he’d hooked up with his teammate’s wife after he left Spurs, or something like that. Either way we love Rafa and I find it hard to imagine that kind of transfer (in terms of Levy phoning up the manager to tell him he’s bought him a ‘present’) happening these days.
She was diagnosed with cancer when he was with Madrid and she had treatment and was cleared before he joined Spurs. The teammate's wife was Sabia Boulahrouz, ex of Khalid "The Cannibal" formerly of Chelsea and Hamburg. It wouldn't shock me to see Levy and Mourinho manage something like that again with Madrid, given their connections. Diego Costa's on the other side of the city though, so perhaps that Mendes client is more likely?
The only negative thing about the Rafa transfer is that Levy (and many fans) dined out on it for the subsequent 7 seasons, until it was finally realised that his move was the exception that proves the rule, not the other way round.
I actually heard about this a while ago and thought it had already happened. Roque Santa Cruz is their captain and they played at City together for a while. The club president promised to sign him if they got a certain number of members.

Wayne Routledge and Kyle Naughton both scored, as Swansea drew at Hull last night. Nice finish by the defender, but both sides were absolute ****e at the back.
I have been to watch Gillingham again today - Connor Ogilvie is ripping it up in league 1, was superb again today, he will be playing in the championship for sure next season, Blackburn bid in January and are expected to return in the summer and they won't be alone. On another note - I hope that Spurs are watching Jack Tucker, he is a 20 year old centre back who has come into the first team this season - He has only played 25 games but he looks the real deal, best centre half I have seen at the Gills since John Egan, - There was interest in January in him too, Brentford at the head of the list (he had played about a dozen games then) - but remember the name he will be in the prem sooner rather than later.
