I love to support the team but pissing down freezing windy weather versus bt sports with a bowl of chips in the pub at lunchtime and my ticket will cost me £40? I refuse to be judged. Saying that much love to those on here that plan to brave it.
Burnley are a filthy team that will try and bully a result, Time to release the Romeu. Hopefully the ref is on his "A" game.
I must admit, I have looked at the forecast again and am seriously considering not going and watching it on TV. It seems there will be gale force winds all day as well as driving rain...the trip from Bournemouth may be 'fun' in the car. I will take a view on Friday. I'm being a wuss aren't I?
Yep as much as I love footie, I think my safety is a bit more important - it is more safety than comfort that is putting me off. Also it is my 79 year old dad's turn to drive and I could drive again, but if I don't fancy the drive, I doubt he will either. The only other drivers are my 66 year old 'step mum' (who we call dolly daydream) and my 63 year old mate who falls asleep all the time (I think he is genuinely narcoleptic). So in the interests of safety I may invite them round to watch it at mine as my dad doesn't have BT sports.
I was planning on going to the match on Saturday with my mate who is in a wheelchair. Unfortunately where we sit down at pitch side is really exposed and we would get absolutely drenched. Being in a wheelchair my pal would also be likely to get chilled to the bone and because he has no feelings below his chest his body can't regulate his temperature. He couldn't risk it because of the possible risk of hypothermia, without him even knowing it. Like a few others we have decided to watch it together on a stream and stay warm and dry for this one. It's a shame because we love being at St Mary's but on this occasion we will just have to give it a miss. Best to be safe than sorry. All the best to the brave souls who do go, and fingers crossed for a result that rewards you for your dedicated support.
They must call you "the boy". Judging from the above, it's just going to be Mrs Game and me at the match. We'll fight our way in from near Winchester.
I`m planning to do the Whiteley Parkrun in the morning, so looks like I`ll have two soakings on Saturday. Is Whiteley skate territory ?
I’ll wave at you from The Chapel. I’ve missed too many games this season due to tv companies moving the dates, so I’m not letting a 12.30 start and a bit of weather put me off this one. Not sure whether to bring my 89 year old dad though. Up to him I suppose. He’s a tough old bugger.
I like to hear about the elderly still going to matches and your dad's doing great too AR. Actually that is a seriously good age in itself let alone still getting to games, long may it continue. Do you travel far AR?
Too close for comfort. You'll be cutting it a bit fine AS, don't forget it's a 12.30 ko. The weather for the weekend should make you feel right at home.
I live in North London, so it’s a bit of a trek sometimes. Dad and mum are in Southampton so I often stay down there after a game. Mum’s very frail now (85), but my dad has always been very active and is benefiting from that now. Deaf as a post though, and struggles to get to his feet when we score.
I see what you mean - I`ll have to allow time to have myself fumigated before heading back west to civilisation.
The thought of him getting caught under the ball in the wind has me shuddering. Like he was up at their place.
Tbf, we didn't give him much practice at the beginning of the season. Travelling down for the game has to be applauded.......... I feel confident for this game but hopefully the weather doesn't spoil it too much. 3:1 Saints win, with a freak weather assist for Burnley.
we played so well against Spurs. I was stood in the home end as got a ticket and was having to hide a mixture of emotions. It was devastatingly unfortunate. But boy did we look very very good as a team for so much of that night. Nathan Redmond is playing like Messi at times. If they can just take the away style to the home games then we would be leathal. Seriously I think we are playing like one of the top 3 or 4 teams in England at the moment. Several players are on top form. i just think we need to aim high - the next 3 games are there for the taking
