So what is the story here Are they a bunch of criminals that deserve kicking out or not The Aussie's have been kicking out undesirables for years Lots of kiwis with no family here returned Seems fair enough to me Have enough home grown crims so no need to keep the foreign ones
I think the story is that it’s not right to deport people who have lived here their entire lives to a country they don’t know to appease Mary, 57, from Epsom.
These are people who were not born here, though some came over as children. They are however serious, dangerous and persistent criminals who have spent over a year in prison
As far as I know people cannot be deported if they have acquired British citizenship through naturalization - the fact that they may have another nationality is irrelevant. Someone who came over as a child would automatically have the right to claim British citizenship after 8 years of continuous residence. Those still possessing only foreign nationality would have some protection under the Vienna Convention which addresses acquired rights. After a certain period of residence (not sure if it's 10 or 15 years) deportation becomes very difficult by International law - but then again this might be just another of those International treaties which Britain is either ripping up or pretending to ignore.
Sadly Mary 57 from Epsom’s daughter or son was attacked by one of these nice people and cannot understand how an illegal criminal can walk the streets. While she is visiting her child in hospital whose future has now been ruined she asks a simple question.... where are my kids human rights. Still we will always have apologists like Lammy who once again is using the race card.
Do you think, that rather than holding them in indefinite detention, they should just put them straight on a plane from the court? Saves money. But what severity of crime, should we draw the line at? Class A drugs possession maybe. Bent cozzer plants the drugs wrap, in court the next morning, on a plane to Kingston by the afternoon, smart work.
Is it worth it if a few innocent people ‘accidentally’ get their lives ruined? It’s an interesting debate even if you have the utmost faith in the government of the day to be just. Given the ridiculous cutbacks made across the justice system, I don’t think even a government not trying to placate xenophobes from the Shires can get this right.
Er, no, these are offenders that have been through a full trial and had the chance to appeal and been sentenced to over a year in prison You don't get that from Class A drugs possession. You may get it for Class A dealing or stabbing someone
Agree. Most of them are no-brainers for shipping out. There are some marginal ones which the likes of David Lammy dwell on. One guy was 17 when convicted of selling Class A drugs. I would make an exception for him, as he was not an adult.
Would you therefore make an exception for that 14 year old who stabbed a another teenager to death over a postcode because he isn’t an adult. The courts and various psychiatric professions have determined that anybody over ten has a thought capacity capable of determining right from wrong, therefore today’s 17 yr old class A dealer whom is already in the system for dealing drugs could well become tomorrow’s 18 yr Old murderer because somebody tried dealing on his “turf” or in his postcode, in all honesty where do you draw the line.
Do you honestly think for a single minute that the U.K. authorities have not looked at said laws you question and quote and just decided to ignore or rip up because it suits them, holy crap do you actually believe what you write or do you just do it because you’ve read somewhere in some left wing lunatic manual that’s what happens, I’m pretty sure that the finest legal minds have looked at it and said it’s ok to do it !!
