http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/15024539.stm This would be fantastic. One of the most exciting drivers in recent years and a sixth world champion on the grid. It could be an incredibly strong line up next season if Williams pull this off and Kubica makes a full return. The rumours apparently started when Raikkonen was spotted being given a tour of Williams' factory by Adam Parr.
It won't happen and you can quote me on that, but only if he doesn't come back. Apart from 2009 there was testing for all Raikkonens career and now there is none so he would be returning after a 2 year break with no testing, it was nearly the same with Schumacher and look how that turned out. He has hardly set the world alight in rallying has he? So I doubt he would be performing at his pre 2008 level anyway and then factor in he would demand a massive salary which would harm the development of williams considerably and the team may fail to score any points at all and that would be worse than Schumachers comeback.
Would be a terrible move for Williams if they got him; he ran Schumi close at Mclaren but I've never been convinced of Kimi's talents since then. However, given that people are saying he could attract new financial backers, I also see it happening, which means Rubens is either going to HRT or Virgin
Now that would be epic, 6 World champions on the grid... MSC VS HAM VS ALO VS BUT VS VET VS RAI.... OMFG!!!
I think if we get to 6 world champions on the grid the status of world champion may also decrease, all the teams will have one soon.
Makes depressing reading for Barrichello, doesn't it? I mean if anyone has to go it would be him, given Maldonado's got his sponsorship millions for the team. Rubens hasn't really done anything wrong this year- just struggled with poor car despite much heralded winter testing results. If Kimi does attract enough sponsors (assuming he goes there), then wouldn't Barrichello and Raikkonen be a great line-up?!
It wont happen but it would be nice but the Kimi at Ferrari was'nt great, dominant one race and then inconsisten and accident prone the next, I think he was one of the best drivers on the grid in his mclaren days though, sadly he just seemed to lose interest in the sport and this showed in Massa's convincing display against Raikkonen in 2008. Although I never really believed Massa was better just had a better attitude and confidence at the time.
Couldn't disagree more, so Raikkonen has no value in your eyes, despite almost beating Schumi in 2003? Or Hamilton or Button? Or great world champions in the past that have won only one world championship?
I'm another one who disagrees with this. I prefer to judge a driver on what I see them do rather than their stats; potentially six world champions on the grid next season and I honestly rate Kubica higher than four of them.
Agreed. But I wonder if he's still motivated to do a good job. Even in WRC two weeks ago he wasn't bothered to come down here and race. He needs that motivation behind otherwise we won't see the Raikkonen of old, and despite that I'm not a big fan of him personally, I like his racing.
I heard a rumour, the only reason he's considering williams is that theirs a well stocked ice cream van just outside the factory gates.
It sound's like yet another stupid decision by Frank Williams, Raikkonen is a playboy why the hell would anyone want him in a serious F1 team.
