I wasn't at the game, just following updates. But from afar, while the team turned in a bad performance, Bowyer should have shaken that up at half time. The 1-1 sounded hugely flattering, and we had options on the bench. I'm a big fan of Bowyer, but today was one he needs to learn from. I read their last two goals were both iffy ( an offside and a throw given the wrong way) but the better team won. Stoke have team enough to pull clear, but we seem to have our morale very low. Forest will be a tough night out.
3-1 flattered us, absolutely shocking performance, couldn't help thinking at half time that it would be our day as we were disgustingly lucky to be on level terms, conceding instantly in the 2nd half was criminal. Still, results today weren't disastrous, we basically only have to be better than Wigan for the rest of the season to stay up, what a day that could be in late April at The Valley
Our goal difference is now at risk. Nottingham Forest could take us apart, which might reduce our GD advantage over Wigan from 12 to single figures.
I seriously doubt our ability to stay up. Outplayed by a relegation rival, a rather streaky win against another rival, who battered us for the last half hour. First impressions are that the January transfer window has not strengthened us, and the loss of Gallagher has weakened us.
I have to agree. Granted Williams, Cullen and Taylor are only a handful of games back after injuries, but Charlton still don't even look like a shadow of their old selves from back in August. There has been no upturn in form at all. The conclusion has to be that Conor Gallagher wasn't just an important part of our attacking strength - he was vital to it. For the first time this season, I think we are more likely to be relegated than to stay up. ESI had a chance to deal with this, and right now it looks very much like they have failed. Andre Green has done OK, but he is the only positive so far. And he cannot even come close to compensating for the loss of Galagher. Aiden McGeady might be our last hope to escape the drop. Cannot say I'm very confident.
Not sure what else he can do. Southall says he's very pleased with it, and it's not him who will get the sack.
