Yes Oddy, and watching in retrospect I'm inclined to agree, and if Cobden is to be believed, he can get better!

Indefatigable seems to be the popular choice next at Warwick, but I'm going with Legends Gold for the lovely Rebecca.

well, another battling Display by indefatigable there!2nd winner for me today.but dont worry, your turn will come again, reebok.

    newbury,3 00: DENMAN CHASE

hard to look past native river here, but i go for a fun bet on MIGHT BITE.true, hes very risky in his current form, but if the master of seven barrows can rekindle his enthusiasm,he d have a Major shout on his best form..

A taking performance from Native River, and a cool ride from young Jonjo, 12's and 14's for the GC - on almost any ground you can't see him being unplaced.

newbury,3 35: a real pinsticker of a race, with chances abound here, but HARAMBE did me a big favour last time out at cheltenham, and the form stacks up well.also, this will be run at a very good Clip, with the likes of not so sleepy, gumball and the bannerkingrebel all ensuring, there ll be no hanging around there.that will suit my choice down to the Ground,as he Needs a good pace to aim at.big shout,at least for e w purposes.

I don't like the look of the Native River form today. Runner up Secret Investor is a 149 rated horse and Might Bite seems gone at the game. Might Bite was a short head in front of A Toi Phil today and that horse is rated 142 now, well past his best for a long time now. The quality of the opposition and the Might Bite we have been watching for some time now mean that Native River had very little to beat today and the Gold Cup will be a totally different test. Much as I love the horse I can't see it happening after watching him struggle to go the pace last season.

Would you want him all out running to 165-170 today a month ahead of the Gold Cup?

Bloody starter ruined the Betfair Hurdle for me. Almost perfect line up as they walked in and the twat didn't raise the tape. Then had them stand still under the tape so some had to turn round and then he let them go with my Not So Sleepy out at the back. On the walk up he was right at the front where he needed to be <steam>. Good job I wasn't there and lumped on; I'd have probably throttled the starter

The big question is what rating he is capable of running to in the Gold Cup. Today's race told us nothing because he beat two lower class horses and a horse whose best days are well behind him.

Might Bite peaked on RPR at 173 on 3 occasions but his efforts since have been largely feeble and we cannot take him seriously as a top class chaser for now. Given that fact Native River was facing horses rated in the 140's today and that is a dismally weak affair. Native River was 2/5 Fav today and it told the story of how easy his task was this afternoon. Horses beating mis-matched rivals is visually appealing but is one of the biggest traps in betting.

Native River may be primed for one day but most of the big players in the Gold Cup will be in exactly the same position and their form has been stronger than the two small field races where Native River was odds-on on both occasions. I suspect another Grand National will pass with Native River chasing the big one but not quite having the pace.

Horrible conditions up at Murrayfield but good result for England. Some really terrible decision making on the pitch by both teams but particularly England. The modern rugby player seems to be so reliant on coaching that they don't seem able to think for themselves on the pitch and adapt their playing style to the conditions when things aren't working.

Panic Attack has been privately bought from the Leinster partnership by Bryan Drew and will be leaving Willie Mullins stable to join up with David Pipe. I can understand the syndicate taking the money, hopefully David Pipe can continue her progress and the horse has a nice racing career over the pond. A live one for the Cheltenham bumper should they go there, my suspicion says they may swerve it, but a real shot in the arm for the Pipe barn.
