Hughton was a top man, and people took to him because he was straight with everyone and handled everything with pure class. He brought back some professionalism and dignity to our club when it was badly needed, I think we appreciate that. He was not perfect as he was still learning but I could see steady progress in his work. I don't think Pards is of the same character but he's done ok for me so far. Nothing flash but he has got ok results under difficult circumstances. He is a bit open and has been burnt a couple of times because of it. Hughton kept his emotions in check more but I don't subscribe to the thought there is only one way to be. History tells us it takes all sorts and despite initial misgivings due to his record as a manager, I'm happy to see Pardew given time. Again I see steady progress and in the circumstances I think you have to be happy.

I'll always wish Hughton well and appreciate everything he did for the club. It was wrong what happened to him but its done and everything moves on.

OK results? Are you for real? <doh>

He got us a comfortable mid-table finish with a thread-bare squad last season, with a strikeforce mostly made up of Lovenkrands, Ameobi and Nile Ranger. In this season with his new squad, he's led us on the best run of games we've had since our Champions League years, and we're still in the Carling cup.

    And that's just 'ok'?

I already love Pardew more than CH.. yeah sure he isn't a top-class manager but I'm starting to like him for some reason or not.. the only thing that I'm really starting to get pissed off.. is his bloody love for Lovenkrands and Ameobi!!! :/

I liked Chris, I like Pardew. But who cares if they're likable, I mean it's necessary I know but Pardew's getting results on the pitch and for me that's all that matters.

And people saying that the fact he's from London makes him unlikable are just stupid <laugh>

I like Chris Hughton, he's a nice man, he's dignified and reserved, and he does not seem to relish the limelight. We went through a horrible time and he managed to rally the troops, attendances remained high during our time in the Championship, we were all in it together. I was unhappy about Hughton being sacked, the timing was bad, it was unforgivable and undeserved.
Alan Pardew is doing well, I don't believe he has an easy relationship with the board, I think he showed this when we failed to sign a striker during the last transfer window. I wonder what sort of achievements the board expect from Pardew, considering he has a 5 year contract. Because of their reluctance to spend money, are we expected to simply survive the next 5 years, or will they make demands on him. Will they use any lack of success to sack him, I think we will do ok with him.
Pardew is more comfortable than Hughton in the limelight, I think if we achieve any success in the next few years he will relish in it, he's no shrinking violet.

Love Hughton for how he turned it around for us. Not sure I'll ever have that respect for Pardew I have for Hughton.

Pardew is probably the better manager though, so.. <ok>

course i loved hughton but he was never really a manager more of a smiling face in the dressing room which could keep team spirit up much like zola at west ham
pardew is much more tactically astute (although i do question his faith in shola) and ha got us really solid at the back and playing good flowing football rather than 100% hoof ball...i dont think we can blame him for the boards reluctance to spend cash he's done incredibly with what he's got and seems to have 100% solid 100% focused group of tight knit players

Hard to really judge so far, still early days in management terms. He got us steady results built on foundations laid by Hughton. He has now had his first pre season and his own stamp on the team. We've started well but its very early days. As I say nothing out of the ordinary but too early to judge. They could get a little run going, who knows? The realist in me says we're a mid table side but we have some unknown quantities. Pardew has had plenty to deal with like Hughton and that elevates his results.

Show us on the doll, HIAG, show us on the doll where the nasty man touched you

    or

    Made you feel pretty inside?

I honestly couldn't decide which one to reply with. So I chose both.

That nursery rhyme was altered so it wouldn't upset the kids as much. He didn't fall off a wall, he fell off the wagon. Got addicted to crack again and killed a young woman.
Got a life sentence, and dropped the soap in the showers.

But they couldn't make that rhyme as easily.

Chris Hughton is a cult hero. Pardew on the other hand is a better manager and also seems a nice genuine guy but I don't know if he'll be loved the same as Hughton was. Still think he's a good lad though and his hide-your-wife, smooth operator persona is hilarious.
