Stats will never make a player talent will. For what it's worth I think Phillips is decent not as good as Viera though imho.
I believe we have an entire squad of decent to average players but together under Bielsa they are one of the best if not the best in the division. Just like the Blades and Wilder, none of the top PL teams would replace their own with too many of his players but they all fear playing them. All opinions though and if a Leeds player plays poor I’ll shout in here for changes but I won’t hate the player as long as he is giving it his best.
Very good that. Also shows how misleading stats can be. Any young fan seeing that would regard Viduka as the best striker over twenty years. Whereas in reality he’s miles the Best. Beckfords goals were almost all against rubbish opposition as Were a lot of Becchios. Vidukas were at the highest level and he was superb
Think all stats are relative no one can argue that Viduka was a top striker in a top league, however Bechio/Beckford were great strikers and did what was asked of them, to score goals in lower leagues and they did that admirably. I for one would have Bechio at the top of his game as our striker in a heartbeat atm,as he would certainly take a much higher percentage of those chances, that we are unfortunatly missing at this moment in time. Good morning all & batten down the hatches for the overnight storms today & tomorrow.
Even Becchio today would be 10 times better than Bamford...................Didn't Bielsa have an opportunity to grab Becchio?
I agree with you, Viduka was an excellent striker in his day, and scored some superb goals. However, Vidukas era and Becchio / Beckford's era are different........Becchio and Beckford were a lethal strike partnership, once Beckford left Becchio excelled in his own right to eventually finish in top 10 of Leeds goal scoring legends. The season he left, Becchio had scored 19 goals for the first half of season.
Those goal charts remind you how important the non strikers are when it comes to chipping in with goals too. Bowyer, Kewell, Snodgrass, Gradel how we could do with their 10+ goals a season now
Yeah but it also shows that in all our successful sides we had a striker smashing them in. The current side has neither! Just reinforces (in my limited mind) the fact that we need to change personnel up top. So who are the most likely in our squad. Hernandez, Alioski, Roberts, Klich all look in decent form. I truly believe Forshaw will release Klich a bit more and he might be more productive in front of goal (straw clutching!) Throw in the unknowns like Edmonson (injured), Poveda and Augustin who we know nothing about yet at this level. I'll get stick for omitting Paddy but he has had his chance and failed. Same goes for Costa and Harrison. That doesn't mean that they can't have an impact, it's just they are massively out of form in front of goal.
I see Wigan haven't recovered from their cup final last week. They pretty much bent over for Preston there. None of that defending last week. Arseholes!
It is surprising how many teams, after upping their game against us, just roll over in their next match, makes me bloody mad does that
Teams come to LS11 and play a 5-4-1 formation, rely on break aways and set peices. Forest shall be more open for us, our defence shall have to be on there best, I just hope Casilla is dropped for Meisler.
