It's a combination of Traditional Karate, Sports Karate, Taekwondo & Kickboxing.

That's a mix, very modern I suppose. I did Kyokushinkai and Shotokan and then branched out to help my fighting style, did Taekwondo at this point and wasn't impressed but also did Kickboxing and that helped in a big way.

We don't do much traditional karate tbh, it's much more sports karate than anything but I love the Kickboxing side

Yeah kickboxing can be quite brutal and you get a few knocks but that's the only way to learn.

Used to do judo and kickboxing when I was a kid and got a couple of belts, I think I preferred the judo, then I got an injury and broke something, not from doing either of those, which led to taking a time out, but I never went back as I started doing other sports instead and some of the training clashed. Interesting story for you

Not done a competition. Only started martial arts about 20mths ago. At 38 (39 under 4wks), its probably a bit late to be thinking about competing <laugh>

Very surprised with Phillip Schofield’s news yesterday. I didn’t know he was married and I didn’t know that people didn’t think he was gay. <ok>

I'm not sure why he's 'proud to be gay'. Is it something to be proud of or is it just part of who you are? It strikes me as bandwagon jumping. Unless he's already got a boyfriend and wants to be able to go out in public as a couple not sure why he felt the need to come out now, if at all, it's nobody's business.

It really irritates me when famous folk make these announcements. There is zero need, no one cares ffs. And all the "support", "he's brave", "he's a role model" and general good will messages make it more like he's announced he's got cancer (good forbid) or something.

It seems to be a trendy thing to do.

It puzzles me how someone can live as heterosexual, have children and then say they're gay. I really don't care what a person's sexuality is but looking at it from the reverse angle, there's no way I could live in a same sex relationship for a day, let alone 27 years and then say I was straight all along. Is it possible to change your preference half way through your life? I'm not judging, I'm just not sure how that happens.

Remember Tom Robinson, he had a hit song with "Sing if you are glad to be gay". He really did push the gay agenda in the late seventies/early eighties, then declared himself straight got married and had kids. Maybe some people are just confused with regard to their sexuality, others deliberately cover their real sexuality up so it does not have an adverse effect on their career.

Would Cliff Richard have been successful if when he started out in the late fifties he had come out as gay, I suspect not!

Likelihood is, he's bisexual. His wife probably knew anyway.

Robinson and Richards are of ages when in their youth homosexual activity was a crime so it was impossible to come out then. I get that hiding it away then was common. Schofield is only 57, the same thing doesn't apply to him. If, as he's said now, that his family and friends couldn't be more supportive then you could presume they would always have supported him and we're talking about the 80's when he would have been exploring his sexuality. Not much stigma attached as far as I can remember. Him coming out now is a bit odd.

Meant to add that Tom Robinson still identifies as a gay man who happens to love a woman. Sort that one out.
