It gets easier but never easy. I qualified in 2010 (second career) and the training year and NQT year are horrible. First proper year is also horrible. After that it gets a bit easier each year, now I'm at the stage I'm at it's still more hours than i worked as a trainee solicitor (or at least comparable) but you do have to remind yourself that it's an interesting job and the holidays are insane. I probably only work 45 hours a week on average over a year, it's just pushed into 55 hrs per work in fewer weeks of work. Think most people would prefer that tbh.

Forget about the pension mostly now, as that's been stuffed. Go back 10 years and teachers got more than they paid for but there's been a raft of alterations (FWIW - teachers used to pay a decent chunk for pensions but didn't have to pay full NI contributions and were, in turn barred from claiming state pension. The pensions were cut back on the basis that teachers would be allowed to claim state pensions but for the privilege have to also pay full rate NI so overall contributions per month went up by 30-40% whilst the claimable pension went down by a similar amout. It's still better than a private pension comparison but it's not the bonus it used to be and there'll be private companies which have ones which are comparable).
He's got himself a nice lifetime ban from all English grounds. There's stiff rules on this sort of thing.
Rumors abound that this guy is some sort of good luck omen for us and that Bruce is going to offer him a place in the dug out. To avoid this happening again though he'll have to pull him off at half time.
