Surely, surely, surely, it’s all about Shiskin (2.31 Huntingdon – 2.31?!? Say what?!?), of the morrow, isn’t it, people??? He steps up to Listed class which will tell us a lot more about the old boy. Will he enhance his reputation as the supposed ‘latest reincarnation of Pegasus’ or will we hear the sound of yet another bubble being burst, I say burst??? You decide. Also steps up in trip to 19.5 furlongs but I honestly can’t see this being a problem as his dam is a half-sister to Stayers Hurdle runner-up, Voler La Vedette, and Bet365 (formerly the Whitbread) Gold Cup winner Hennessy. I do think Shiskin will win, and win well, but at forecasted odds of 4/11 the 6YO gelding isn’t a betting proposition tomorrow for a simple humble working man such as my good self but it will be fascinating, and I do mean fascinating, to see how he fares. Incidentally, the race is further enhanced by the forum’s second favourite owner, Princess Camilla, God bless her and save her, having a runner. On this occasion though I think she may have to settle for a place.
Nice to see Alan King's Messire Des Obeaux back on the racetrack tomorrow at Huntingdon after nearly 3 years on the sidelines. He was 3rd in the 2017 Neptune at Cheltenham and then sustained a bad injury a month later at Aintree. Not seen since but he's still only 8. Obviously race fitness would be a concern and this race looks half decent but I do hope he rewards connections patience with a decent run. Runs off a rating of 140 and is priced around 6s. Might be worth a modest wager. Good luck all.
Whatsnotoknow 2/1 - Thurles 2.15. A large field in terms of size but a very poor field regarding quality and the 2nd favourite Whatsnotoknow is available at 2/1. I think the price is about him getting around the hurdles safely, as I just cant see anything in the field to beat him if he replicates his last run here, where he was well fancied and just came up short after travelling well throughout. Broghie Man holds the head of the market but I expect that to flip come post time and I'll be hugely disappointed if he doesn't oblige.
Whilst I have exchanging pleasantries with Princess Camilla twice at Royal Ascot in recent years I haven’t yet reached the stage where I can ring her up and ask her thoughts on her runner today. Cor blimey though imagine when I can…that will take those ‘just had a text off the owner’ messages to a whole new level. Wonder if she will tell me to ‘lump on’?!?
Can anyone remember hearing (not on an ‘I’ve been told…’ basis more from media reports) anything re a horse called San Salvador in the past??? Am only asking as I see young Joseph has got him entered in a Flat race at Naas on Saturday afternoon and as soon as I saw that I exclaimed, ‘Cor bally blinkin’ blimey where have I heard of this one before???’. Am wondering if he was formerly with Daddy Aidan and was something of a ‘talking horse’ but ultimately never made it to the track for the great man. That’s only a guess though and am scratching my head to remember. Can anyone shed an light re San Salvador??? I did ask Mr Google but for some reason all he wanted to tell me about was some place in Central America.
hi fellas!i am back from a short Sabbatical today.here are my first two for today: huntingdon,1 00: not a strong race to kick Things off today, and probably only a handful,to be seriously considered here.strictly on Fresh form, this could turn out to be a match between BARD OF BRITTANY and Swilly sunset.the former has turned in 3 good efforts since with this Yard, his best last time out 10 days ago at plumpton, where he and the second horse were miles clear of the rest, which gives the form a solid enough look..can also run off the same mark, which is a further plus.should be bang there today. thurles,1 15: a similar Story here, with plenty of dead Wood in it,so the main contenders should be ARVICO BLEU and antey.the latter hasnt scaled any heights so far, but, given his powerful Yard,it wont take too long surely.but,at least today,i go with ARVICO BLEU,who was quite a useful hurdler last Season, and Maybe chasing a strong pace didnt help last time out on his chase debut.is surely a lot better than that,so he gets my vote today.
I'm sure some people will see £4k profit on £11k in 5mins a good investment. He will have to fall to not win. Banker, especially with the step up in trip
Fair enough. You don't agree it's a banker or don't agree that some will see it as a good investment?
both as it happens. You have some very strong form with the other runners who provide a strong test on the pure basis of his last run. I think the price is wrong, and I don’t think it’s a good investment on chances of return.
donny,1 23: hard to split COOPERS SQUARE and tudors treasure here for me,but the former is possibly the stronger stayer of those two,and though not much between them here,he gets a narrow nod today,as he ran better than the bare form suggests last time out.
Doncaster 3.30pm Hello Bob 80/1 each way. Yard think it has a chance of placing and at the price I am having an each way play. Has had a wind op and has Sam Twisters on board..
thurles,2 15: STILL STANDING is an intriguing runner here,as he was bordering on very useful on the Level last Season, culminating in a listed win,and a Rating in the 90ies.he showed next to Nothing on his hurdling bow recently, but will have surely benefited from the experience, and a much better showing can be expected today.
yes,big shout, but i think, this could be MR MCGOs day(at least,i hope so).ok,patience is slowly wearing thin with him,but his second last run in 4th Looks much better now, even if he couldnt quite back it up last time out.this Looks a bit easier,so decent Chance too..
