But last 2 seasons we've got knocked out by Notts Forest and Oxford. Who ****ing knows, Wigan won it by beating Man City a few years ago. The further we get the more exciting it gets and at least there's something other than our bland mid table league slog.
And weirdly despite missing a load of great chances, we seemed freer and more ready to go for it when Atsu can on. Although I dunno whether this was just cos Bentaleb was diabolical. And let's give Clark credit, we were a massively different team as soon as he came on, he needs to start next match
If some people don’t have hope. Wether it’s the big teams or not, without hope.. what’s the point in watching football?
I’m confused. What did bentaleb do so wrong? I thought he looked pretty tidy, I can’t recall something he did terrible?
He looked very lazy in first half, passing was wayward. We'd owned the first half, he was our main weak link.
A crowd of 50000 in the home game and a sell out of away tickets for this game suggests that is not the case. You seem to have forgotten that football is primarily about entertainment for all but the 22 blokes down on the pitch and the guys on the sidelines.
Too true. It's also one of the two principle reasons why Ashley has been such an awful owner. The other being his lies and total indifference and disrespect to all and sundry.
yes it is and id rather be entertained weekly and involved in the prem than be in fizzy pop talking about a cup run the year before
Liverpool have their minds on the Prem and Champions League, Arsenal are dire right now, Man City we drew against, and Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd we've already beaten this season! If we have the "there's no point in this at all for us" philosophy we may just as well give up the league too and get relegated. Leicester won the league, and Wigan and Portsmouth won the FA Cup recently, and so can we if we actually give it a proper go.
only until the final if we by some miracle got there... we have no chance not good enough in any department tbh it end away at west brom
Wigan won the FA Cup when they got relegated, Portsmouth got to the final when they got relegated, Hull City got to the final, ****ing Millwall got to the final a few years ago. I know your the prophet of doom, but even you must see that there's some chance for us to progress, particularly as we're playing West Brom next who's league campaign is far more important to them than the cup run.
At 2-0 it looked like there could be quite a few more. Irony of ironies, Joe-Linton going off put an end to that idea. We then reduced the pace, started playing like it was a training session, and people were not wanting to make themselves available. Darlow, as he does, starting booting more and more ball straight down the middle to new target man ASM! The whole stadium knew where the free kick was going, except Darlow obviously. Lascelles had a good game at the back. Yeldin was dire. The Longstaffs had good honest games, particularly Sean, but neither is yet good enough for this team. Almiron and ASM had some nice interchanges, ASM looked like his old self after his last couple of performances. Almiron looked really good until the goal was in sight. I'm just off to organise my Wembley tickets for the semi's. It is clearly our year.
I was ****ting myself when it went into extra time, cos taking Almiron off had snuffed out all our attacking threat and left ASM to do everything himself....thankfully he DID manage to do everything himself, but if he'd played the whole game he'd have been knackered by the point and never able to tear through them like he did. Much as everyone eulogised about the free kick, I thought it was a huge error by Darlow, and he even got a whole palm to it and just flapped it into his own net. If we're taking this competition seriously Dubravka should be in for the West Brom game. Songstaff should definitely be in the first team, he's more than ready, he bossed the midfield yesterday. Mongstaff wasn't quite up the the standards he's set for himself, but still looked fearless and combative, certainly better in midfield than Shelvey and Hayden right now.
