Almost 2 games a week in February so who plays who and who is the contenders??????
Ive drawn the line at teams up to 9 points adrift and that gives 12 teams in contention … [with DERBY -10pts … HULL -11pts ..with READING & QPR at -12pts]
TEAMS IN RED ARE THE CONTENDERS … ALL START ON 30 GAMES
THERE ARE 14 FIXTURES [ 51 points / 34 teams vying for them!] that involves top 12 teams playing each other …
Sheff Wed don't play any of the other 11
    Brentford; City; Blackburn; P N E; Florest; Leeds play 3 and W B A; Millwall; Fulham play 4 …... the rest 2 game
    fixtures 8th
    Blackburn v Fulham
    NFlorest v Leeds
    Millwall v W B A

up dated it with this weekends fixture now so 18 points up for grabs and with this weekends fixtures and WBA Fulham and Millwall get to contest 4 games v top 12 teams ….. and that can thin out the points … 3 of the top 4 this weekend can extend their lead over some of the teams from [4th] / 5th to 12th …. [ top 4 all involved in 3 fixtures ]
I reckon a lead of 11 pts will be to much to overcome for any serious positional change

This weekend will see most of the different clubs’ new signings play a part. I would guess that very few will make an effort immediate impact as they won’t have had the time to gel.

    h . h . A . h . A . A . h . A . h . A . h . h . A . h . A . h …. we have 7 away and 9 home ..

    3rd Bristol City 16 . 28 pts . ……... W W W D D L D W L W L L W W W ==== Away form ... ave pts per game 1 . 75 [ potential = 12pts ]

    11th Bristol City 14 . 22 pts ………. L W D D W W D D W L L W L W ======Home form ... ave pts per game 1 . 57 [ potential = 14pts ]

replicate the season so far and city = 76 points … obviously logarithm applied to all teams IN top 10 and we would finish in 5th/6th
[ eg PNE would finish on .. 70 PTS / Swansea on 71 pts ]

Blackburn v Fulham 0 -1 best would have been a draw
NFlorest v Leeds 2 - 0 no spying! good result
Millwall v W B A 0 - 2 very windy conditions but WBA seems to be nailed on for top 2
Disasterous result losing 1-3 but better against Brum than other top 12
Barnsley and Derby helped a bit … Derby on form? our next opponents, when Brentford meet Leeds and Millwall tackle Fulham! and can be on a bit of a losing run! L D L ?
and 7 other top 12 play bottom 12

we are all in agreement ...almost! that this month, and in general, the championship is far from a stable entity as far as results go! Only 6 of the top 12 have in FEBRUARY banked more half of the points up for grabs, with city sitting on the fence with 6 and the other 5 including LEEDS, from 5 down to 2! Drawn games at moment dominate the top 12 playing each other long may it continue! except maybe this weekend City will hopefully withstand the initial WBA assault and do better than a point although WBA so far are W3 D 1... !

2 fixtures this weekend stand out ….

    Bristol City v West Brom
    Brentford v Blackburn

with the other main protagonists playing:-
    Derby v Fulham
    Leeds v Reading
    Nottm Forest v QPR
Preston North End v Hull City
    Stoke City v Cardiff

    Chasers
    Swansea v Huddersfield
    Wigan Athletic v Millwall
    Birmingham v Sheff Wed
A mish mash of results of similar upsets to last 4 weeks could see quite a herd of prospects pushing the gate to the top 6!

Bristol City v West Brom ……………... as widely expected
Brentford v Blackburn ………. good result
    ________________
Derby v Fulham another good result
Leeds v Reading …….. would expect them to have scored more!
Nottm Forest v QPR ……… a very good job done by QPR
Birmingham v Sheff Wed .........….THINK BOTH THESE OUT OF THE MIX NOW
Preston North End v Hull City …. WITHOUT Bowen have no answers
Stoke City v Cardiff … well done Stoke … would have expected a draw
Swansea v Huddersfield ...we need to emulate Swansea on Tuesday!
Wigan Athletic v Millwall well done WIGAN reined in Millwall
2 fixtures to go and need to win both … both on the road and 12 points for Feb will have been reasonable!!!!
