Yes. There's been **** loads of studies around the dangers of alcohol and the damage it causes the body. Who are you talking about in your second bit? I clearly said in that post you quoted that'd it be silly to suggest that cannabis isn't harmful. I'd argue ecstasy and lsd are the least harmful of the lot.
But weed is just the tip, there's a whole lot worse drugs people are taking. So is booze worse the heroin etc?
I’m almost certain no one thinks booze is worse than heroin. Booze to an extent you can get away with consuming for decades so people take that to mean it’s harmless.

Yes it can be proved, all of the current scientific research points to alcohol being one of the worst substances for harm to health and cost to society. There was a report done on behalf of the government, looking at studies and expert advice that ranked drugs based on harm, how addictive they are and on the negative effect to society that ranked alcohol almost at the top of the list ahead of most illegal drugs. I can’t remember off the top of my head which drugs came above alcohol but there weren’t many!
