It does look like that, on a smaller scale. Overpaid so wants to sell for more than the club's worth. Iansun wrote: "I can see another Ashley type of carry on personally, I really hope I'm wrong."
The denial came before the article ... ... Hetherington will shortly expand on this when he has more progress to report. Just because you can see nothing on the horizon it doesn't mean there aren't submarines patrolling.
I was ****ing sunning myself in Bardados just after the news broke and laughing at people who said Brexit would come first
People grinning and waving little paper flags doesn't mean Brexit's done ... .... we could've won the title before anything meaningful happens. Why do you think Johnson, Rees Mogg and the other grinners have vanished ... ... the NE will be totally forgotten as usual.
I really hope so mate, it's a kick in the teeth every time I see something else close down. The people deserve so much more. I haven't lived there since I was a kid but I live and breathe the area ... ... just for once I'd like to see real prosperity there.
The situation is fairly clear. Donald overpaid for the club and no one is going to pay enough for him to breakeven whilst SAFC is in League One. The FPP deal gives Donald a chance to get SAFC promoted at which point, FPP will pay enough for him to get out without a big loss. But FPP can’t force the timeframe. Donald doesn’t have to sell unless he wants to. But he has zero interest in putting any more money into the club. That is why he took the loan from FPP. SAFC runs at a loss so if it was not for the loan, he would have to finance that himself. He could do it, he just doesn’t want to. So his comments about how he could pay it back or put it in himself are a half-truth. He doesn’t want to take any more risk. He is already down £10m by my estimate. He doesn’t want that to be £20m. If SAFC don’t go up this season, then unfortunately there might be enough wiggle room for SD to have one more go at it next season. But then he is definitely out of time and FPP takeover. Either way, FPP end up owning the club. Next season in the Championship or later on still in League One. The only uncertainty is price - which is dependent on which division the club is in at the time. In the meantime, SD will of course be desperately looking for someone to buy the club off him for more than £35m. But £10m of that goes to FPP and £25m goes back to SAFC to repay the parachute payments. So the big question is what does SD do if he gets an offer of £35m from someone less good than FPP? My guess is he will take it and get out. Luckily, I doubt anyone would be mad enough to pay that.
For some daft reason mate I just think he has stuck his neck right in the noose this time and if he doesn’t deliver and Labour gets their act together it could be the death of the Tories so let’s hope he delivers for the north’s sake
Excellent post, as usual. I become swamped with well meaning info and find it difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff. I'm not an accountant, or real businessman, so really genuine info is sometimes difficult to understand. I sometimes don't do credit to it and get a slap or post too early and get a slap. So it's great to see a clear concise summary that no one can argue with.
This makes so much sense. Great post. Let's hope SD doesn't find a buyer for +35m. I honestly can't see anyone paying that even though we're told there's a lot of interest which I don't believe.
Excellent post. Absolutely nails it. I would add that it I believe it wouldn't benefit Donald's to state that FPP are still firmly in the game, as this might put off other potential investors, who may feel they can't compete with FPP, as they hold too many cards already. And that's the last thing Donald wants.
I've just had a message from an original contact who's come good again. He's confirmed much of what I've previously posted although it was a 'for your eyes only' message so I can't really post anything new from it. It concerns the original terms of the FPP takeover and what has happened to change the situation. All I can say is that, as things stand, I feel quite pleased with myself.
