    Because....

    Religion = Bollocks

    Sport = Life and death.

    Think of it like this. Would you let your belief in Father Christmas stop you going to work? Of course not.

    On Christmas day, yes.

    I agree that he can stick to his religon if he wants... But dont make everyone else do it, belief in a god was his personal life choice.

    People's opinions are always spilt on religion, I've just encountered far too many people who have tried to shove it down my throat. I would never tell anyone not to have beliefs as I think, to a certain level, it must be a wonderful thing to believe that there is something beyond what we have in life. So I don't see why I should be judged for not believing, and daring to have opinions that I feel, in an extreme form, religion is a destructive thing.

    For centuries religion has directly enforced the deaths of millions upon millions of people, removing people's rights to believe and has been directly responsible for the execution of countless people who don't adhere to their belief system. I'm strongly against killing somebody because of their beliefs, and can't imagine why anybody opposed to religion would stoop to similar levels.
    Education needs to be drastically improved and it's as simple as that really. When you have a country like the UK giving additional funding to religious schools that teach children this stuff as fact from such a young, impressionable age; or when you have a country like the USA which allow schools to teach Creation as an alternative to Evolution: you simply can't trust everybody to grow up and actively realise for themselves what bullshit it all is. We are talking about humans here; humans are stupid.

    If you're religious, you have a weak mind. It's as simple as that. Sport shouldn't pander to the weak-minded and their misplaced, irrational priorities.

    And for every other muppet on this thread claiming religion is a bad thing, I'll tell you the same thing my mum said to me when I made that same comment:

    "It is not religion that is bad ... it is man's interpretation of the religion and their greed that is bad"

    Didn't Newcastle Falcons not have someone who wouldn't play on a Sunday for religious beliefs, yet they play most of their home games on a Sunday to avoid clashing with the football matches.

    Read my previous post and you'll se that I believe religion can be a great thing, however it can cause a lot of problems. Please don't try and associate me with your bigoted views. I re-posted as I felt the need to clarify my original post.

    The people who are completely against religion like UIR is are as bad as the religious extremists I feel. Its not like he's hurting anyone so why are you so bothered about it?

    It's immaterial whether it's a bad thing. It's just a made-up thing. An ideology of the imagination. No rational person should take it, or its followers seriously.

    I hate this attitude that people have that not believing in God makes you smart. There's plenty of people who believe in God who are counted amongst the most intelligent in the world. And plenty who don't who are thick as pig ****. Its up to the individual what they believe and, unless I'm very much mistaken, there isn't a 'right' answer yet.

    Not that I'm in any way in favour of teaching creationism as a valid scientific theory or following the teachings of the bible to the letter. I also disagree that all sport should be banned on a sunday but if Murray doesn't want to play then its up to him tbh.
