Printed this recipe and planning on doing it for the 4 of us on Tuesday. Recipe says 1.5kg of MEAT. Seems like a lot. EDIT: just noticed it says serves 6, I assumed 4 as that's what recipes usually are.
Yeah, when I make it again I'll keep everything the same but just use a kilo of meat and cook it in a smaller pot. I used braising steak as the butcher didn't have cheek. He also reckoned the cheek is tough as **** for obvious reasons and would need a good 12 hrs in the oven.
Fried off some mince, drained the excess water. Then added garlic, mushrooms, red onions, fried for about 2 minutes with some wocs sauce. Hours in a dish. Added some fresh peppers. Mixed herbs and some chilli flakes for a bit extra umph Made some gravy. Lid on. Hoyed in the oven now. Will leave for a while. Check gravy level. Then hot in some dumplings. Will make an onion mash while this is cooking. May attempt a toad in the hole while in here
So the toad was just a distraction to see how ****ing difficult it was. No very. While I was waiting for the casserole to cook. With a red onion mash.
Now I may cook something for me.. that's for my sister tomorrow, she's a heath worker. I cook them chunky all the time. But so basic. Why I couldn't understand the walking over schlem Mrs chinks last night. basic Asia cooking. I may make some burgers. Simple enuff
