That's going to be a decent horse over hurdles or fences. Not many bumpers win three on the bounce.

That was because of the ground was too soft. One more for tonight

    7.30 Wolverhampton

    Key Addition 20/1

Going to take a chance on this William Muir 2 YO Colt who represents his trainers only runner at Wolves tonight. This 6 start maiden started off his career in relatively good fashion with a couple of decent 2nds with the form in behind not being too bad, the latter being on his handicap debut at Carlisle over 6f. Tonight he runs off a lowly mark of 67 and Sylvestre De Sousa is a very eye catching booking having won 1 of 4 rides for this trainer this year. Muir is fantastic form with 8 wins from 32 this month and boasts an impressive 25% strike rate with his 2 YOs at Wolves this season so at a big price I'll happily play a few quid e/w

On the subject of la fortunata is it common for horses to run races with so little time in between?

Just asking as I am a novice <ok>

If a horse wins a handicap easily connections may decide to send it out again quickly before the handicapper has chance to reassess the horses mark. That is probably the main reason you will see a horse running with only a few days break. More common on the flat than over the jumps but I remember last November one of Neil Mulholland's horses running over 2 miles hurdles 4 times in about 12 days. I think the horse won 3 of the 4 and was 2nd in the other. Taking advantage of a "lenient" mark (lots of jiggerpokery attached to that game <ok>)

On this occasion I am pretty sure it was due to an opportunity with the better ground but Oddy is spot on with the rest. All horses are different and some are more tough and resilient and need very little times between races and similarly the opposite is true about horses who can get really drained after a race.

Don't worry your a novice, everyone had to start in your shoes at some stage and I'm nowhere near a seasoned campaigner. You're best friends in this game are those around you as we have a group of insightful people here. Keep looking at peoples reasoning and you'll see what sort of things you can pick up on. Previous handicap marks, trainer form, jockey/trainer combinations etc. The important stuff will be constantly recycled. Its how I learned and with a lot of trial and error you'll be flying in the near future.
