Erm .... it was Jack Charlton that started this! Ironically. However, Big Jack did it on his own. Millwall (& other teams) throw 3 or 4 players at our 'keeper. The players we use to protect Kiko get leaned on heavily so that it is they that get in Kiko's way., not the opposition. That's the 50yds away view.
They do. See reply to Eire. Don't know if my view is confirmed with a close-up on tv, right enough.Ref seemed to come over a few times to sort it out, but it seemed to be the Leeds players that were getting it for trying to protect Kiko.
where did I even imply that?... I was referring to how chris wood reacted to the stick he got. but I’d happily have him back here as a different type of player to bamford for different game/situations.
LOL. You didn't. Sorry for my poor grammar. It was generally thrown out there, so should have read 'Does one .....'. Thinking aloud, in other words.
In my opinion yes he would. He would have scored more, made more assists and we probably concede less goals at set pieces. Chris Wood would be perfect for this system.
Sorry Jock. Feels like I'm singling you out today but your simply putting out the most interesting posts... Ironically it was also Big Jack that said in his autobiography that teams tried to crowd him out to stop him heading the ball which made it more effective. He said he knew the day that the tactic died was when the keeper said to his defenders to leave him in there on his own. As the kick came in, the keeper ran out and punched Jack in the ear. He said he stopped doing it as much after that. Maybe Kiko could learn from that!
If Kiko can't punch something the size of a football how the **** is he gonna hit an ear Kiko, if you're reading this just aim for the head
Should we play Douglas at CF? https://www.facebook.com/watch/?t=138&v=217660862571207 Sorry, non-Facebookers, but it wouldn't let me embed the vid.
What would happen if Kiko waited two yards behind the goal line till the corner was taken, then charged out to claim knocking both attackers and defenders flying?
15 points deduction, plus yellow for leaving the pitch without permission, another yellow, for re-entering the pitch without permission, resultant red for 2 yellows. Then there would be a yellow for each of the players he barged, meaning at least a 2nd red (perhaps even a 3rd!), a penalty, 2 years in the jug for assault, & if any were black, banned from playing sine die, plus another 15 point deduction. Oh, and a £30m fine. Have I held back too much?
we’d love it, that’s what would happen! without wanting to get into a VAR debate, I have sympathy for refs at corners... there’s too much going on and two many bodies in the way for linesmen to be much help. Keepers getting blocked off, shirt holding nudges in the back etc. i remember last year away at Sheffield Utd, some were getting in a pickle at BPF not dealing with a few corners - closer inspection saw that Billy Sharps job was to target him.. block him off, push in the back just as he jumps etc. corners have always been an opportunity for the dark arts to prosper, but there needs to be a crackdown on it, they're a joke.
