You've honestly never wavered in your backing, even when we were firmly in relegation form with no sign of improvement you never privately thought maybe he was the wrong choice?
Nope.. I fully understand that managers need time, and that one of the main reasons we are now where we are is because we rarely give them time.
I've got no doubt that RAW, like me, has never waivered in his backing. He/we might have thought that maybe he was the wrong choice, but waivered in his backing . . . . ****ing never
fair play RAW, we should all have a tad more patience & belief. that way you give yourself a chance to progress ....unless he's called David Moyes
That's what I'm talking about though, technically I've never waivered in my support for any player or manager because I've only ever been positive at the games, when it matters, but it doesn't reflect the truth of my personal opinion.
He had a decent record at this level and i was confident he would do well as long as he was given the time and patience of the fans. sadly it looked like he wasn't going to be given this, but this run has at least got the wolves off his back for a while..
This! Parkie has us pressing high and we are vulnerable to the counterattack by a long ball going to forwards with a bit of pace. I don't agree with the people saying our defensive line is solid, it is improving but is still a bit wobbly at times - and we're still not able to score enough goals to give us a cushion, so matches are always on a knife edge. Parkie still needs to bed-in his January acquisitions and at the same time improve our ability within Plan A and/or give us a workable Plan B. February is a big month for us and I'll be overjoyed to be able to climb aboard the Parkie express come St David's Day.
Like most I felt he wasnt up to the job after the first 8 or 9 games. I think we all expected a glimmer of new manager bounce . What seems abundantly clear is that players were no where near the standard 9f required fitness which speaks volumes about ross's coaching acumen. The last 2 games we have gone off the boil albeit we are keeping clean sheets. I hope this isnt because opposing teams have found a way of disrupting the pressing game he has introduced. Hopefully new additions will fire up the whole squad . We are still in need of someone who can put the ball in the net confidently. Wyke is a hard worker but as a goal scorer he is just not cutting it. At least the football is now better on the eye than it ever was under ross
The Tranmere game was just a weird one off but I think we've struggled to score recently because we've played against teams who've pressed us and when they have eventually tired we've not quite had the quality to bang a few in. Even Wycombe didn't press us in our own half at all and it enabled us to dictate the play. The best teams around struggle when they're pressed and it's a lottery whether they can kill the game off when the opposition is knacked.
I wanted the appointment that jack Ross was supposed to be Young ambitious manager who would grow with the team through the leagues When PP was appointed I thought it was a sign of where we are and where we would stay. I’m happy to say I was wrong we are playing decent organised effective football more than we did under jack Ross .................... quite happy to be eating humble pie
not sure how far i got into the 'in or out' debate but i was at least on the verge of out, pretty sure that i was at the 'needs to get the team moving fast' point...cant say that i was over the moon that he came here nor can i say i was curled up in a corner crying about it, more a wait and see scenario that, at present, is looking very good. i also think that he had a couple of things to sort in the background before the team could move forward, and he seems to have managed that with the minimum of fuss...maybe a better manager than many (including myself) gave him credit for.
If he has played a key role in the window, ( albeit we are unable yet to assess the quality of the players ) at first glance he is much improved on jack Ross's recruitment. Then again ross probably had to suffer the interference of coton and hill. Automatic promotion is still a big ask but if we keep playing as we are, with the squad we have we should prevail for the final spot rather than wimp out as we did under ross. Ho hum
Initially I was underwhelmed and greeted his appointment with a big sigh but was happy to support him once he was here. After the Bolton game I couldn't see how he was going to turn it round here so was starting to think we needed the lift that SKP would give us. In hindsight he's played a blinder using those cup games to suss out the squad. We have a style of play now. Team spirit is better. We're much fitter and have a real shot at automatic promotion. And it's not all about him (Moyes take note). I think I'm starting to love Parky!
sadly for football managers it's nothing more than a results business and when he joined for the first few weeks his results were horrific. He lost the crowd (well the majority) and I wasn't convinced that he had the dressing room either, but as I've said, fair play to the guy, he kept his nerve when many (including me) lost theirs. We now have a focused squad, the crowd are behind him and there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Keep it going Phil, as results will determine how long this "feel good" time will last
Absolutely a results business and especially so for us this season as we need to be out of this league. Substance beats style every time for the majority of football supporters
I agree with ya here m8. When the fans started singing 'SKP' I absolutely cringed in my seat, I cant ever recall being so ashamed at our fans. Then I saw the next morning RR headline posting..."has that c**t been sacked yet" ffs man!! Horrendous by them and honestly i've never read any of their stuff/podcasts again.
This was my view 100%. I came off Twitter as I couldn't get my point thru. It was toxic on there and a tidal wave against Parky. Even from what I considered to be decent posters.
I agree bri, these new signings need to fit straight in and do a job. Then we know Parky has picked right. But the players he's doing the business with now are all from Ross so he didn't sign that badly just didn't get the best out of them as Parky is
Pointless signing players if you can neither get the best from them or keep them fit. Tend to believe ross had a scattergun approach to recruitment. Look at how many cb's he brought in in just 18 mths. Look at how many strikers. Loans included in both instances. Somebody wasnt doing their homework. The squad size and cost was unimaginable previously in this league. Ross looked and talked the part. I dont believe he has much substance
