Sounds like the sort of striker we’ll sign

Hardly prolific is it, especially in that league.

Saying that, Eaves scored 40 goals over the last 2 seasons... Stats arnt everything.

Also why buy a young, unproven striker when we have KLP? We need a proven striker or something different to what we have already.

I went through the remaining fixtures for "the 'appy 'ammers" the other day with my brother-in-law who's a WHU fan. He reckons the max they will get is 36-37 and he thinks they're ****ed. Mind you he's a pessimist every season. This year he may be right.

He's a bit like Bowen, he can play on the wing or up front. He's only 19 and this is his first proper season in the first team, it's not bad going.

It’s not bad but it’s only a Mickey Mouse league. You can’t get top 6 by consistanly signing unproven lower league players

It's really not a "Mickey Mouse league". The top half is similar to the teams around us and the bottom half is like the top of League One. There isn't a huge amount of difference between the teams at the top of League One and the bottom ten in the Championship, not really. The rivalry between Scotland and England sometimes blinds people to any quality up there, but it's a hell of a lot better than it used to be and they're attracting a decent calibre of player not seen there before. It's not like the Welsh or Northern Irish top division, it's streets ahead.

But even if it was a really crap league, then by the same logic it's no indicator of his actual talent. We've picked up players from the SPL that have done well, some don't make it but many turn out alright.

We need a couple of decent experienced larkers in now. There’s enough young promise. Could we get two loans in until the season end who are not getting game time in the Champ or Prem. i understand the business aspect of the January window but given what looks likely to go out surely this can’t be too hard to achieve.

I’m not sure I agree with your opinion on the Scottish leagues, we’ve got eaves, maginess that between them might score 15 this season. We don’t need another might do player we need to start getting some players than can do. We may aswell just go with klp as a potential player

By that logic then it was pointless signing Bowen. How many first team goals at any level had he scored at 19?

The kid seems to be attracting a lot of interest.

But we aren't going to get players that can score 15-20 goals a season up front for the money we are looking to spend. So we have to take chances on players that are untested from other leagues.

What level do you think, say, Aberdeen would be comfortable at in England?

Would also appear that motherwell believe he's worth more than 750k.
Not surprising given the clubs reportedly showing interest.

I know we are aren’t going to sign a 15-20 goal striker. I’m saying that’s what we need to do

6 goals in 29 games for a 19 year old I think is ok and worth a gamble.

Not at all (I think) we signed Bowen when we had a decent squad so he had time to develop. The way we are going we’ll need him to come straight in and bag 15 goals

I agree, but it isn't going to happen, not this season anyway. But it's maybe likely that any player we do sign could turn out to be alright. I'm still looking forward to seeing Samuelsen getting a proper go.

Appears our recruitment strategy is to develop players. I'd suspect if we were likely to sign an established player at this level it would probably be a loan.

A while back now, granted, but back in the 80s/early 90s, I recall many of them being genuinely formidable: Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd

I am not against signing some young prospects. You can blood them at Under 23 level and if they are good enough you will soon know. They will start to stand out after a few games. What we need now is some established players to sit right in if Bowen and Turbo leave. Let’s be honest here in terms of goals the kid has carried us through the first half of the season. The attacking signings that Terry have made haven’t exactly been brimming with goals. We need a proven goal scorer. Without one it will be a hard slog. This is not being negative it’s reality.

The way I see it is

    potential strikers: klp and scott

    first choice strikers maguiness, eaves

now be honest without Bowen and kamil there isn’t enough goals there by any imagination or no matter how black & amber tinted your glasses are.
We might have enough points to help keep us up but with that line up of strikers you wouldn’t want to start the season with it.

so the kid might be worth a gamble but there isn’t the quality in front of him we need

Steve bruce said “your only as good as your strikers”
We need better than a gamble, it won’t happen we know it won’t but that doesn’t deter from the fact of what we need
