I wonder if Nakki really wants to go to Bristol. I guess doesn't matter anymore. Keep what we have - but send Brighton loanee back as he hasn't really done anything.
I read that FFP stops us from being competitive in agreeing a deal with Burnley for Wells and that he’s close to signing for Bristol City. What are the chances that he’ll line up for them against the Rs on Saturday? Miserable stuff.
What's the exact rule around that, I wonder? If we are within our budget and can afford him, why can't we compete in making a deal? How can we sign any players without competing for the signature, unless we go for players who no one else wants?
Wells is bait so Burnley can take the Bristol City skipper in exchange, thus the recall. We were never seriously in the market for him.
Looking forward to when this FFP is done and dusted. Not getting relegated this season is the main goal and hopefully Wells has helped us do that. Let’s just hope there are brighter days ahead.
Looks like Freeman is on his way to Forest. That Premiership dream hasnt lasted long has it. No chance we had a sell-on clause?
It’s so disappointing that we couldn’t hold onto Wells, Freeman and Smithies because we accepted shocking advice from the likes of Mark Hughes and spent money on Bosingwa, Granero, Caesar, Park, SWP etc etc it feels like we are the only club that has properly fallen foul of FFP and has been punished to the full extent of the regulations.
Sad day when we can’t spend 3.5 mil to buy our top goal scorer due FFP, makes me sick to what has happened to our club
We have every right to be angry at the way our club has been mismanaged. Thanks to a couple of idiots we have years of suffering. Thankfully MW has done better than expected this season and we should be grateful to him. He must be so frustrated at losing players because of what's gone on before him.
It seems strange as well to me. We supposedly put in a £3 million bid for McKenna (sp) the Aberdeen CB, last August. So why can't we at least match the just under £4 million WLS are reporting BC are paying for Wells now. I would also have thought it possible to negotiate a continued loan for the rest of this season and a pre- contract deal to buy him in the summer, when we will be in what was supposed to be an easier FFP season due our FFP rolling 3 year loss position. Maybe we are making a bigger loss this season than expected? But surely we will struggle to buy a replacement for Wells an in form striker who seemed to like playing for us, with another equally competent striker for less than £4 million. We don't own a competent Championship striker at the moment, and don't see many available at that price.
Seems that Wells went for 5 mil. A very good player for "today", but after a few year he will no have no re-sale value. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/nakhi-wells-bristol-city-imminent-17655972
Burnley wanted Bristol city skipper so it was wells plus cash....we didn't have a chance..... Can't blame Hoos for being cautious as we may be closer to ffp limits than anticipated....
Forest is the one I don't understand....they're hoovering up huge numbers of players, made big losses previously but seem to escape ffp sanctions....
I seem to recall those sentiments every year for the past 45 years!!! It could be worse we could all be Bolton supporters.
It could be the FFP situation has got a lot worse than in the summer. But if not, with Wells wanting to stay, we surely did have a chance by negotiating the sort of pre- contract agreement I mentioned.
Good post on LFW'S that in last 3 or 4 seasons Bristol city have sold 5 or 6 players for around £70m in total.....they are like Brentford, but low, develop and sell high.... It's what we're aiming for.....
