    On a clear night (how long might you have to wait for that in Ireland?) look up and tell me if you can see the moon. How far away is that? These 3 situations are not comparable.

    Every situation is unique. If the taker appears to intend to take a free kick and an opponent sticks his foot out, then YC for defender. If the taker appears intent on hurting the defender then red card for the taker. Look at his facial expression and the preceding actions of both.
