Concerned about some weary limbs for Saturday. Or does he rest Wyke and sticks Lafferty on from the beginning and likewise keeps Maguire back whilst giving a full game to Scowen?

Ground out the three points which is vital. But he's got to mix it up on saturday ffs, they'll be dead on their feet after tonight. Blinkers off, Parky man

Can’t work out how the Tranmere fans dare! They had a man sent off fir 2 bookable fouls. Despite that fact he committed a red card offence in the first 5 minutes! They could’ve had 3 players booked before our first foul! Jesus what do they want

That'll do on for midweek away game on a truly awful pitch, the momentum keeps on building. Pretty tough and resilient team he's built isn't it.

Thats what I would do now, but changes should have been made here imo., but who knows what hes thinking, he might be trying to train a team of Trojans. ( oops I meant Spartans) :emoticon-0120-doh:

    Jon McLaughlin: 6/10
The Scot made a decent save from a free kick but very nearly gifted Tranmere a goal scoring opportunity from a poor pass - he did not have much to do second half.
    Bailey Wright: 6.5/10
Nervous first-half from our new signing, he missed a sitter early on and was careless on the ball. Second half however he was excellent, hopefully he can take that into Portsmouth on Saturday.
    Jordan Willis: 6.5/10
The pace of Ferrier did not seem an issue for Willis, he had a steady performance as ever.
    Joel Lynch: 5/10
I would like Phil Parkinson to inform Joel Lynch that the football is not a grenade! Too many times Lynch lost Sunderland the ball through smashing it needlessly, also lucky to not have been sent off for two yellows.
    Luke O’Nien: 7/10
A battling performance from O’Nien, he worked hard throughout, winning tackles and headers, consistent as ever.
    Max Power: 7/10
Industrious performance from Power. He battled hard and was a reassuring figure in the middle winning numerous tackles - he needs to contribute a little more going forward though.
    George Dobson: 5/10
Dreadful first-half, calmer second. He started the match by obtaining a stupid yellow card for a daft foul and I lost count of how may times he lost the ball, second half was improved but he needs to do better.
    Denver Hume: 6/10
Hume as always tried to play direct, but he struggled to get in behind to whip in his usual amount of crosses. The pitch did not help his dribbling at all.
    Lynden Gooch: 6/10
Starved of service overall but it was not Gooch’s day - the pitch was not ideal for dribbling.
    Chris Maguire: 6.5/10
Maguire always has a bit of quality in him, his cross for Wyke’s goal was excellent. Having said that, I did think he was quiet other than his assist.
    Charlie Wyke: 6.5/10
A different player before and after his goal. Largely anonymous first-half barely linking play, but credit to him for scoring an important goal, hopefully he can start to score more consistently.
    Josh Scowen (SUB) : N/A
    Welcome to Sunderland.

Man of the Match: Max Power
A proper captain’s performance from Power tonight, he led by example and I thought he was the most consistent player throughout the victory.

Strange - I thought that Maguire gave the ball away more than Dobson but hey - We won
