also, having such a high profile manager, and several expensive new signings should mean that they should be able to field 2 excellent first 11's to beat us, but football isnt as simple as that <ok>

MM has already said that every game is important and the club want to win every competition which it has entered, some fans might regard it as "only the Carling Cup" but the majority of them and the club certainly don't.

Gotta say, although the skill levels were maybe not up to both sides usual high standards last night (Gestede's equaliser apart) there was no lack of effort from both teams...

Great entertainment (although I guess after winning I'm seeing it in a more positive light) and despite the poor (although expected) crowd quite a good atmosphere <applause>

Big up to all the Leicester fans who made the trip. For a game that neither side saw as being as important as Sunday's it was a good showing from you guys, with a fair amount of noise to boot :emoticon-0148-yes: (you would have had another voice but my Leicester supporting work colleague was sat with us Bluebirds as a special "treat" <laugh>)

I'm glad to see this thread has brokenout into a decent one again after reading some of the previous posts... our resident WUM John Hughes didn't help matters but what on earth was Danger Fox on :emoticon-0183-swear<doh> is he always like that???

Have to say I'm expecting Sunday to be just as close (aren't the games between us always??) as both teams made plenty of changes (Leicester 10 us 7 but would have been 8 if our reserve keeper hadn't tweaked his calf muscle) so it could be a different syle of game on Sunday..

I'm building up a lot of respect for Leicester fans after all our encounters.. all I can say is please do not get too cocky as it is far better to be humble in both victory and defeat... if you aren't it often comes back to bite you in the arse!!

Cheers guys, here's to Sunday's epic encounter and the latest installment in our ongoing battles <cheers>

I must admit I was a bit surprised to see so many on a Wednesday night Carling Cup game. Well Done them.

Expect to see quite a few more on Sunday.

    Dave Nugent totals.

    League 228(68)Goals 75 ratio 0.25
    Fa Cup 13(5)Goals 4 ratio 0.22
    L Cup 9(4)Goals 3 ratio 0.20
    Other 8(3)Goals 3 ratio 0.27

    Total games played 258(80) = 338 Goals 85 Ratio@ 0.25 Goals per game or 1 Goal every 4 games.

Cant say this is prolific by any stretch of the imagination.

    Well that's promising <cool>

    Isn't he still injured??

Have to say I'm more worried by the pace of Vassell (but not the finishing <laugh>) and Beckford. Our best bet is to ensure that Gunnarson acts as his usual effective shield and cuts out any through balls...

(and let's also hope that Gerrard doesn't dally on the ball too long as they do have some very quick players) <yikes>

Nugent had one particularly good season with Preston - apart from that I agree with you he is not prolific. His game is more about being big, powerful, yet surprisingly quick and willing to work his socks off - weighing in with a few goals himself but more effective as a foil for a real poacher - which Beckford undeniably is - Schlupp too appears to be a more natural finisher and (IMHO) is the best young forward I have seen coming through our ranks since Matt Piper and, before him, one Emile Ivanhoe Heskey.

Reading through the thread ( I was at the match, agreed it was great value for £10) I was chuckling at Nuggent 'the goalscorer'. Never once in his carear has he threatened to be prolific.

Did Mills go off at half time to rest him or was he injured? Seems strange to only play him for a half. I thought his positional play and reading of the game was top notch, for the half he did play. He was class for Reading last year, it's suprising he stayed in the Championship imo. Maybe Johnson and Dann being available meant he did have the option of PL football?

Someone mentioned Rudy starting, he played pretty well and his goal looked class, but he litterally couldn't walk by the end of the game.

If the Blackpool performance was as good as suggested I expect more of the same formation wise.

Went with a mate last night who is a Foxes fan, he told me to watch Schlupp and I was very impressed TBH. His movement would give our 'first choice' CB's real problems.

Last two season in the Championship he has scored 15 and 13 league goals. 1 in 3 for someone who played omn the wing last season isn't bad at all.

Plus he has started at 2 from 4 games and he has hit the post twice.

You can dig him all you like but i;i'd rather take him that Miller!

Also we have a guy who has scored 72 from 116 games at Leeds.

That proves statistically that Nuggent is due a dry spell...........

Beckford hasn't proven himself above L1 level yet, he may be prolific in the Championship, but to this point he is proven in L1 and failed in the Prem (Everton often played without a striker rather than play him!)

    .

Dream on mummpet you were not the only team playing a second string team .
we reasted Miller,Gerrad,Whittingham,Hudson,Gunnerson (half the match)Conway,McNaughton.
So keep on believing your going to face the same eleven this coming Sunday as i think you might be in for an almighty shock.

Not having a dig just pointing to some intersesting facts that contredict what has been suggested by a Leicester supporter and yes Beckford did have a great scoring record albeit the majority of his goals coming in the old " third division " any idea why Everton got rid ???.
As for Kenny Miller ....yes his record of 491/172 is under a 3 to 1 ratio .
Would you like me to list Robert Earnshaw's scoring stats ???.
Also would you like our stats for certain players at the club for hitting the post's ?
