OK then guys - in terms of managers rather than clubs, what are your choices?

Other than Malky to go up - Holloway, Poyet and Jackett

Getting a "welcome to the Championship" reality check (not necessarily going down) - Allardyce, Sven and Schteve Mac.

Makes me smile when people harp on about trying to buy the league or buy success .. the last team in British football that won anything with a team of' local lads' was Glasgow Celtic in the 1967 European Cup final - I believe the whole team came from within something like a five mile radius of Glasgow.

All that Leicester have done is to try and accelerate the 'normal process' of building a team capable of getting promotion - because we have owners who have the funds to do so. Had to laugh at the Swansea fan wanting you lot to beat us on the match thread yesterday because of our signings etc. If we can unite you and the Swans there may be a role for us in the middle-east! It's amazing how blinkered we get as football fans - how many home grown players are currently first team regulars?

And the criticism of Sven, as some of the more lucid of your fans have pointed out is, at best, disingenuous.

I suppose it depends on how you measure succes - for me he turned England around and the 5-1 win in Germany (more so the performance) gave cause for some real optimism - unlike the tenure of both McClaren and (to date) Capello.

Sven was also doing a really decent job at Man City (again for Thai ownners) before he was mysteriously replaced - I watched them play Arsenal off the park (admitted they eventually lost) when Arsenal were a real force with relative unkowns (at the time) like Elano, Gelsen Fernandes, Martin Petrov, Michael Johnson, Stephen Ireland and Michael Ball (the last 3 coming through the ranks - not expensive buys).

Love the banter and admire a good point well made, even when I don't entirely agree - but some comments seem to stem more from the politics of envy than from rational thought processes - which renders them both trivial and somewhat boring.

i respect sven for the good job he did under difficult circumstances for england. since england he had one decent season as man city boss, failed abysmally with mexico, and for some reason ended up managing notts county then ivory coast <ok> he comes across as someone not really interested in managing at the highest level. his last 3 jobs have been notts county, ivory coast and now leicester, thats strikes me as someone who is a bit of a mercenary.

as for buying the league, well like it or not (and evidently 95% of fans dont) , the only way to 'guarantee' moving up the table is by spending big money, money your club has not generated. what annoys people is that for example, cardiff city, have been slowly trying to get up to the PL, after years of financial mismanagement, and trying to get both the team in order and the finances more in line with the clubs means to generate revenue. then you get a sugar daddy who turns up and instantly gives a team a huge advantage over the rest, which many call financial doping. now i'm not saying investment is bad for the game at all, just that the majority of fans see a sugar daddy putting loads of funds into the club as unfair on the rest. i'm not going to lie, we are all hypocrits if we feel this way because we all want to have an abramovic at the helm.

as for the signings sven made for man city, the only good players i can think of that he signed were elano and petrov. he signed an absolute dud in rolando bianchi, and the rest were decent to average signings (geovanni, corluka, fernandes) and by the way michael ball was signed by stuart pearce from PSV <ok> anyway, didnt he only finish 9th or something? thats not bad, but not brilliant <ok>

I'd agree with almost all of your choices Spark, but I'd replace Jackett with Adkins <ok>

Yes Fosse, your absolutely correct. I am indeed overwhelmingly jealous of a team that is below us in the table and we have just knocked out of the Carling cup.

Proph - agree Adkins would be a good shout. <ok>

I'd also like SOD to do well, but I'm afraid he could be out of a job shortly unless there's a complete turn around up there.

I wouldn't like to see any club fail financially or completely for the sake of the fans and foorball in general, although some fans, Leeds Farest QPR etc do make you wish!!!. But in the championship I want them all to fail. By that I mean I want them all below City all the time, where they rightly belong. If you are a purist coming Second is failing!!

I agree - very good principle there Snaggs, but I must say I'd be prepared to come second and fail this season - how about you?........<whistle><whistle>
