I can't believe this conversation about percentages is still going on..! please log in to view this image
I know! I know! Who would have thought we would still be banging on about it? Particularly when the chances of that happening were only about 7%.....
I would prefer Rickie to take a pen than Le Tissier. Strange but thats how I feel. I also wouldnt want Lallana to take a pen for us, as I dont think he has the required power like MLT and RL have. I know he is the most skillfull player by a long shot and my fav player to watch, but he tends to curl and place balls rather than smack it one. Oh and Beddytare is wrong btw.
Beattie's penalty for England U21s once was the worst I've seen - it would seem after that he changed his method and became the taker we remember. Jim Magilton's routine, from what I recall was smash it as hard as he could and hope it went in (which it more-or-less did most times). As for Rickie's back-up, I'm guessing it could be Lallana, Guly or Fox.
There is always a possibility of having a penalty shoot-out in a future round of the Carling Cup (God forbid!) so I hope Nigel has got all the players practising penalties!
Beattie, all day long. But they are all solid enough and there isn't many better in the game. When I see top end Premier League players missing penalties because they hit it just off centre with no power...I just think of our big Rickie with pride. I think his penalty against Birmingham there was a bit close for comfort. I actually get nervous when he gets one now in case he misses...but he's not going to miss. God, I've said it.
What amazes me about Rickie's technique is that he smacks his placed shot into the corner with his instep, not the side of his foot, a la Matty. That's much riskier than Matt's method, but Rickie is unerringly accurate. Beatts' technique was much more like Matty's, but would always put it in the right corner, IIRC.
A poll for this would have been ideal, you would think. A **** site better than one about athlete's hairstyles.
What's more important; the number of pens scored, the conversion rate or both? IMO a mixture of the two - MLT missed one but scored a hatful. Clear penalty king for me.
Bet she warned you when you were seven (about 1905) that one day you'd wish you'd studied harder. Beddy, that day has come.
