Read that years ago before film (different title) and as I was watching the film it dawned on me what was going to happen fs The original book had Stand By Me and The Running Man as well @Gambol to confirm,is that the one you have or is a stand alone book?

Just reading it on my phone mate. Only 88 pages long, it is a "novella" seemingly.

The running man was a stand alone novel King wrote under the pseudonym of Richard Backman.

Stand by me was in the same compilation as The Shawshank redemption but it was called The body. The book was called Four seasons and also included Apt Pupil which is probably one of the best film adaptation of a Stephen King story ever made.

    Yer welkum!

"Who loves you and who do you love?" I have to say, I would never have thought The Running Man was Stephen King.

Another "Backman" book, The long walk is supposed to be about to be made into a film as well.

Adaptations of King's work seems to be very popular in H/wood these days.

I have read every book King has ever written. Just finished his latest a couple of weeks ago. The institute. Soon to be dramatised as well I've heard.

I would. Film adaptations rarely exceed the original story.

In saying that, the programme is very true to the source material, so far. It's extremely well made and very atmospheric. One of the better TV adaptations of King's work.
