As much as i wanted him to stay, we had to sell him because Sir Alex wanted to give youngster's a chance this season, if Hrgreaves had stayed and was fit to play then Cleverley r even Anderson wouldn't have as much chance, Sir Alex wanted to play youngsters this season, thats why he sold Hargreaves.

But even as a man utd fan, yesterday i was pleased for hargreaves, i felt sorry for him, if he can get his form back then England would now have a very good defensive midfeilder for the euro's something England lack in midfeild.

Saw an interview with him this morning on SSN news and he seems to have an Irish lilt to his voice which is strange for a German Canadian. Certainly shouldn't play for England, Parker has done ok for England recently in that role. What we need is an Irish/German/Canadian Tiote!

Old Champ Man (pre England caps) had Hargreaves listed as Welsh Canadian.

Yeah you guys don't even understand how ridiculous it is that Hargreaves is as good as he is. He grew up in rural Canada where mainly Ice hockey is played and is distinctly known for not producing soccer players and was still only playing American College soccer for the first few years of his career, now he's going to be pushing for a chance in the most expensive team in the world

I think you'll find that's a Canadian accent. I'm a Canadian whose lived in the UK for the last few years and people often think that I'm irish, usually northern irish

We didn't sell him. We simply didn't renew his contract. Fergie implied on numerous occasions in the past that he didn't believe anything was physically wrong with Hargreaves and that his problem was a mental one. With that being the case, there was no point in offering him a new contract, as he'd never have featured for us. If he gets even one injury at City, these psychological problems may well resurface.

My lass gets a similar reaction to her accent. She's from America but has lived in Newcastle for years and she's forged a very unusual mix of Geordie and Septic which people somehow confuse with Norther Irish <laugh>
