Pro Evo or FIFA?

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by Jobby Funbags, Sep 22, 2011.

  1. ...and I'm prepared for the abuse this thread will generate before I even start.

In the absence of a gaming board, this'll need to go on GC - I'm genuinely interested in what people's perceptions of both the big football sims are just now.

I was a FIFA man up until ISS became International Soccer Star Pro Evolution (about 2000?) - the engine was like no other football game before and offered an immersive realism in the game I'd never seen before - I was hooked and became a loyal Pro Evo type throughout several versions.

Pro Evo struggled to upgrade to third gen consoles - the versions I had for Xbox 360 were underdeveloped and terrible online but still, I resisted FIFA's formulaic approach.

Then came FIFA 10 - the first version to be better than Pro Evo IMO.

I played both demos for last year (FIFA 11 and Pro Evo 2011) - the FIFA demo was too similar to FIFA 10 and the Pro Evo demo was simply horrible so I bought neither.

I played both demos for the first time last night and, although the new defending in FIFA was quite cool, I've fallen back in love with Pro Evo all over again even though I expected FIFA to be the better game.

I reckon I'm gonna purchase Pro Evo when it comes out.

  8. Try it out Beale.

It might take a bit of de-programming the FIFA from your muscle memory but it looks really good.

There are four licensed teams in the demo - Bayern Munchen, AC Milan, Arsenal and some blue mob from Govan for some reason <laugh>

That's when I changed to Pro Evo too (or ISS Pro as it was known then). It blew FIFA right out of the water.

I've not bought either for years now though. I only really like playing football games with a human opponent, and since I moved out of my mum's I've had no one to play against (I didn't use to play against my mum BTW, it was my brother). I don't go online either, so I just tend to stick to FPSs and the like nowadays.

    What did you want?

I tried Pro Evo first (mainly cos I didn't think it would be much cop, to be honest) - perhaps that clouded my judgement and you should try FIFA first?

1996-2005 it was Fifa. I was young and it was all I knew
2006 - 2009 it was PES. All my mates at uni played it so was ushered into it

Not played any since then as all my consoles break very quickly (I am cursed) but I think I would stick with PES.
