I agree with all of that From what I can make out a certain party did their best to bring Liverpool and the unions to its knees. I genuinely believe that is the source
the media are purely interested in what creates attention , views , sales for their particular outlet pure and simple .
Fair point - but by the same token the fact that you're the best 'supported' clubs in the league means that a lot of time if a pundit is slagging off one, that doesn't necessarily imply a vendetta, but just one fan stating his opinion.
personally have no idea why people take seriously the ****e "pundits" spout as most appear incapable of coherent speech .
Depending on the agenda Liverpool fans are either all scousers or all Norwegians, scouser being seen as a derogatory term hence my long dialogue on the media long standing downer on all things associated with Liverpool. We all know the truth. Liverpool fans are local and global. If you support the team it doesn't matter where you were born, grew up or where you live now. Scousers are proud of being scouse and those who aren't couldn't give two hoots (I expect and assume) about the terms Liverpool fan and scouser being interchangeable. So any attempts by media or rivals to try and put someone down using the term are futile.
I get called a scouser quite often because I support Liverpool but obviously I'm not at all a scouser and wouldn't claim to be.
I've never claimed that refs are biased against us - you may be confusing me with someone, though I can't imagine whom. I think all refs must have their favourites in lots of games, even if their declared allegiance is elsewhere, so it's down to their professionalism to maintain as neutral a stance as they can. Some are better than others. However, I do think large sections of the media have a bias against the city, as JB points out, and for some of the reasons. The media is mostly right-wing, and Liverpool has always been a vociferously left-wing place. It and its people were roundly demonised by the Thatcherite government and its cronies and a lot of that lingers. Still, the discussion has broadened here, I was only referring to the fans of other clubs saying we were media darlings - but as Solid pointed out, anything or anyone that sells is such a beast. I'd say they've been just as heavily smitten by City and Pep since they became newsworthy.
The media appear to also dislike Everton as a club, not only the City and Liverpool. It’s been shocking over the last few years.
Utd were (still are?) the media darlings for, understandably, what they did/have done for English football. They have massive support, bringing the game to every corner of the world with all the financial benefits and popularising that that entails. Liverpool too have brought the game to the masses but had the main spotlight when social media wasn't around and the rest of the world was a 'larger' place to reach. Both clubs are consistently(ish) very successful so it's no surprise they get a lot of attention.. I think our recent troubled past has coloured the view of some and they show it now and again with the way things are reported about us vs the way they are reported about utd.
He did the same thing at Man Utd. Unbeaten runs are easy when you decide what the result "should have been". https://metro.co.uk/2017/01/26/jose...eat-to-hull-city-were-still-unbeaten-6409180/
Yeah I wasn't talking you specifically mate as I'm sure you knew, just making the point that both fanbases have an element of fans who think the whole media is against them when between you you're the most popular clubs. Just because Sky have ridiculous amounts of ex Liverpool pundits it doesn't mean that they're entire coverage is biased against United, as Tyler sounding like he was at a funeral for the recent Manc derby proves. Similarly, just because the bbc are based in Salford it doesn't mean they hate Liverpool, as evidenced during the recent FA Cup tie when they spent ten minutes going on about how special and brilliant Anfield is while barely giving Everton a mention... Simplistic examples perhaps but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say... agreed the conversation has drifted a bit! Agree that your size and success of course plays a part, it's undoubtedly the biggest factor but City still have a lot of catching up to do there.
While I'm here a question for the locals about the best place to park next week, presumably I can park near Goodison? Is there any free parking near that area on your matchdays? Don't mind a bit of a walk if it's quicker getting out.
Liverpool and utd is one of the biggest rivalries in football and that runs through everything including who gets most/best column inches. Some take it seriously the rest of us just shrug.
