Well away from home quite good - the problem has been breaking teams down at home

I've seen the names of Chris Hughton and Colin Warnock mentioned - neither of their brands of football is something I would look forward to!

Totally agree, Lee is pretty safe for now , lose 3 or 4 more on the trot though and things will get tricky, SL has stuck by him in the past and will again but fan pressure last time raised the question, I believe, at board level, so you’d imagine would again. The difference this time is it Lee team that he has put together himself, he’s had the time now and we should be seeing the results.

We have , at this level, very good technical players, which on paper should do well , the problem appears to be LJ himself . Whenever we have a relatively full squad Lee struggles, when the squad is depleted and our backs are against the wall he achieves above expectations, this seems to suggest that Lee’s motivation, of man management skills are the problem, to be able achieve anything he needs to improve, or move on and let someone else try.

I believe SL is pragmatic, he has so far, and will allow time for Lee to improve on this , but if Lee doesn’t improve he will eventually act, the question remains when that time will come and whether, if results don’t improve, his hand will be forced.

I have to add as a caveat, I hope we win all our remaining games of the season and go up as champions, then this will all be forgotten. I’ve nothing against Lee, I’m grateful for what he’s achieved and would like him to continue pushing us forward, but it’s the us going forward that interests me ultimately, I’m not really bothered who achieves it .

the picture at AG is RATHER FOGGY it has more than one side to it ..

take the players … we have bought few in [utilised academy] improved them then sold them on and made a profit, if last seasons accounts are an indicator then we will have 2 profitable seasons on the bounce …. but half a team, not with us that might be doing better in the champs if still with us! AND MAYBE we would be fighting for top 3!

Butchered team.... having a team that is reasonably successful constantly getting rid of its better players has repercussions, it is in a constant flux of trying to gel
head coach, his job is to get the best out of the players he is landed with …. [ he may get a say on who comes in but it is not a veto ]

so has SL et al a HEAD COACH in Lee that will not rebel and is in tune with the " boards foggy" idealism … they do not want to do a similar thing that happened /s to a lot of 1 or 2 year prem hopefuls and come back down with a ragged team to continue life fighting in the champs! [ having sold a few, if good enough to be sold, to reduce a wage bill ] but still have players on double the wages for championship clubs and need the parachute payment /s to pay for that … knowing their income is likely to diminish by some 50% or more! and crowds likely to dropoff.

so whilst I agree it is a team "Lee" [and the board ] have put together, it may not just be plain sailing. lets face it January is a bad month psychologically, everyone thinks they are almost doing their best / utmost .. so if around you, you get comments like … need a new "xxxxxxxxxxx" / not good enough for champs/ has had his day / doesn't give his all etc etc etc. then it is going to affect you, performance will suffer as you overtry …. ….. it is not the same as usual employment .. boss calls you in... "we are going to replace you if drop/break another item" or indeed is sacked, there is a procedure which can take months! with football it is "sorry not good enough will need to find someone to take you off our hands" / don't get to play / or someone thinks you are fantastic and do you mind tearing up your roots here and trying something else ….. we have a plan to sell our best to get ffp in order ….. football players are in a totally different world to the normal "worker" ……..

as an addendum to the previous post ...if I WAS A PLAYER at Bristol city and we were a couple results short of being in the top 6 and people constantly said it was crap I could be affected and the odd "error" wayward back pass or blasting over the top, or wonder what the negativity is all about, with crowd on your back make even more mistakes … watching televised games a lot of the top players in the prem make errors and the crowd show consternation at that moment in time but allow the player to play on.... not booo or condemn everything they try to do afterwards.. as city supporters we do expect a lot but it has to be said we don't give a lot sometimes in the way of patience …………..

True , however aren’t we the biggest City to have never had a team in the Premier League , maybe we’d change if we could get rid of that ‘tag’ , maybe as a fan base we feel a little hard done by?, just a thought,

yep a shame we as a City still wait our turn to be a prem team … our luck is when the PREM money cow bursts we get promoted!

in 1981 I struck a bet that we would get first division football within 10 years ……… what little did I know ...would transpire …. and still waiting

3 points today, and now 10 days until the next game to give them a rest and work on things on the training ground.

Now won 2 of the last 3....

Only 4 teams in the division have won more games than us, and only 6 teams have lost less games..... What a crisis, LJ out!!!!!

We can all moan about the style of football which has been shocking for months, today wasn’t good either but the facts are we are now a solid 2nd division team with no threats of relegation and we have improved in league finishes every season with LJ in charge, the fact that people don’t like him just because he was in the starting 11 under his dad is their prerogative but he’s doing ok in my book <ok>

With all that said and done LJ out <laugh>

I don’t disagree ROD , and of course we are level on points with the play off places, but as I pointed out in another thread our form has dipped since we got a full squad back, hopefully the recent wins will arrest this and put the season back on track.

    **** performance three points.
two strikers and a midfield dynamo required.

I quite enjoyed today’s game to be honest.
Very poor finishing from both sides, but the right result and still up there

Where's all the :emoticon-0169-dance:emoticon-0170-ninja:emoticon-0169-dancejerkers disappeared too? :emoticon-0105-wink: Just asking!!! I imagine if Leeds & Sheff wed had the kneejerkers we have, the managers would be looking over their shoulders right now!!

My own personal opinion is 2 wins on the trot brilliant, 8th in the league table but joint 6th on points is quality and deserved, my concern is next 2 games away, Reading and QPR both away, where will we stand ?

We need an infusion of quality and class, will the suits back LJ's requests, makes you think.

To be honest I think you have that the wrong way round I would be looking for a quality striker and two midfielders one a ball winner and the other a creator.

    We are scoring goals.
It’s conceding them that’s the problem.
