Generally, we were more durable, which was good to see. Not playing Dier and Eriksen from the off, has got to help this. Neither of them should be starting games anymore, especially now that Coco's back and we've signed Gedson. Aurier was better in the second half, possibly as we grew in belief as a team and they suspected that Tanganga isn't a left back. Despite their recent form, Watford aren't really all that.
Aurier played better when he could see. He kept having balls played into him from the sun and ****ing it up in the first half. Should he have dealt with that better? Possibly. Should we have stopped playing them to him like that? Definitely.
I agree with your about Aurier apart from when the sun was in his eyes for a couple of tackles he played really well and his strength was a real asset against this tough Watford side. Deeny has perfected the art of running in front of a player and then falling down and conning the ref, it worked every time. Some sort of justice when he missed the panalty.
Making them less creative but less likely to make a mistake To me that isn’t football but that’s what we’re stuck with as long as he is manager.
Given our current squad and fitness issues, it's probably the most sensible thing. We give the ball away so much, as every player wants to play little flicks and no one can hold onto it. Whether we can then move on from that, is going to be the issue.
I thought it was a must win game for Spurs. So we can almost write this season off,FA Cup and CL included. But I wonder if we can do a Leicester?Liverpool next season with every team beating up on each other while we steal the points playing like the old Spurs. (I can dream!!!!?)
City down 1-0. Quick Pep. Send a man to sign the Juventus team during the break. Shouldn't cost much!
One advantage of no European football next season is that they will have a whole week most of the time to rest and prepare. Leicester and Chelsea both benefited from that massively so why can’t Spurs
I thought it was a fairly even game, officiated by the worst referee in the PL. If we had a powerful CF and a powerful CM, we probably win that game, but as it was we struggled to create many chances. Now onto Michael Oliverpool and VAR, first of all Oliverpool failed to give Spurs a penalty for handball and VAR ignored it also, then later in the game he gives Watford a penalty for handball (you can bet if Vertonghen had been VVD he would have ignored it), the inconsistency (or bias) drives us all mad. There was a studs up tackle by Capoue that never even got a yellow card, which would have affected Capoue`s game for the rest of the match. Deeney discreetly fell over every single time one of our defenders went near him and Oliverpool blew for a free kick every time, awful officiating and again if that is VVD, Deeney gets nothing. Positives were the clean sheet, and a better team defensive display away against an in form team, and in the face of yet more poor officiating. Over to Levy, we need a CF and others desperately, I think Mourinho over estimated the quality of our squad, and now he knows there is a lot of work to do. Top four is gone, we would probably need to win at least 10 of our remaining games, I can`t see that happening. I hope these rumours of a takeover by Google come to fruition, we will never get to the very top under ENIC.
I thought we seemed to have a lot of lunchtime games, and this confirms it please log in to view this image Also, I hate lunchtime kickoffs: they completely ruin any plans you had for the day. Inconvenience Wolves fans for a change, come on!
I don't know if it has been mentioned/discussed but Son has been utterly woeful since returning from suspension. Confidence looks totally gone.
