We're interviewing Tony tomorrow (Thursday) For those who don't know, Tony is chief Steward at the Valley and has been since our days at Selhurst. Tony comes from three generations of Fewell's who have worked at the Valley. If you have a question that's related to the stewarding at the Valley then pop them up here and we'll try to get an answer for you.
Can you ask him why there is no clampdown on the half time yoof smokers in the North stand? Ruins my half time wee.
Can we ask how he saw the situation in the South Stand against Exeter develop, because from my view in the East, the reaction of the stewards deemed very/over aggressive towards a normally no trouble group of supporters who had been provoked by BWP? One supporter was thrown to the ground and carried away by the neck, when questioned as to why he was removed, they reacted similarly to one of those supporters questioning the decision and manner in which he was removed. There may have been good reasons for doing so, however it looked like it got out of hand from the Stands
Slight Exeter bias there? And as for BWP provoking- where is the problem in him taking all sorts of abuse from fans, but once he scores and puts his hands to his ears that it's deemed ''provocative''? Same for Joey Barton against Wolves- if you give it, you take it.
No no, I agree with you in that sense, I just mean the manner in which it was dealt with. It was the first time I felt slightly uncomfortable with the way our Stewards dealt with something. We've all been away from home and seen the way away fans get treated compared to home fans, it's just the manner that felt over aggressive. I'm not saying those fans had a right to react however they did. I would like to assume it got personal against the stewarding staff, as otherwise there wasn't much right in my eyes to have treated the situation so aggressively. Was there a need to effectively push a fan to the ground down concrete steps then drag them up by the neck? I don't know, thats why I'd like to know what actually happened to warrant it?
Clinton Morrison did the exact same thing to us in the North that BWP did in front of the Exeter fans difference is the the North didn't try and get on the pitch and took it from Morrison even though we didn't like it
Also can you ask him why there is no clampdown on the half time urinaters in the North stand? Ruins my half time cigarette.
Serious question, can you ask him why the 'hit squad' those ones in the black jackets (rather than yellow/orange bibs) glorify in the reputation of being hard men/women? They are at every home game and we are at every home game, we both know their role as being the enforcers so why are they so proud of being the 'get a proper job' people? I am sure they could change tactics to become more user friendly.
second that question...why do we have an Elite Special Forces type mob. all hell...i think the role naturally attracts the lowest of the low. i think if you were a real "hard man" (whatever that is) you wouldnt sign up to be a SAS man at the hotbed of international terrorism that is the Valley
Don't forget, Calydon that someone once tied a b*mb to one of the floodlight pylons. Granted, he wasn't exactly a terrorist...
