Anyone who says climate change isn’t, at least partially, man made either has an agenda or is stoopid. Anyone who says that it’s not happening at all is really stoopid.
I haven’t read most of the thread, I watched The Green Mile again last night while it accelerated. But climate change and its causes are so ****ing obvious that anyone denying it is either parroting some **** they’ve fallen for or stoopid.
Greta does piss me off. I don't like the idea of a 16 year old alcobaby telling everyone things they already know just because she has assburgers and people are scared to say "She's not that smart." I take climate change serious but she doesn't say much of real worth.
Amazing how many middle aged Tories seem to hate on young Greta. Her message is virtually identical to the ‘national treasure’ who spoke yesterday, yet I doubt he’ll attract the same level of vitriol for some strange reason.
Every grown man that gets weirdly angry over her is free to ignore her. The amount of flak she gets for trying and probably succeeding to improve the world a little bit is mental.
I think she’s too young to have so much media attention as it will be hard for her to deal with but she’s been a huge catalyst in making climate change headline news on an almost daily basis. She’s clearly very intelligent, I’m not sure why you would take the piss out of her for having asperger’s. You’re mocking a 16 year old girl who is trying to make a difference. Why? Just seems quite ****y.
Read my statement again. I'm not saying there isn't climate change. What I am saying is that in the past planet earth has been a hell of a lot colder and a hell of a lot hotter and planet earth has survived. It's only an issue because of the impact it will have on the human way of life.
Is it a "thing" to hate her then? And I just think the media attention is nauseating. Especially since I live in a Nordic country and I see exactly the type of upbringing she's had. It's a bit like an Eton graduate walking into a homeless centre and telling them to just "get a job" You're telling people who rely on this lifestyle to survive that it's bad and "how dare you oldie" when it's so much more complex. I suppose I'm unfair on her the individual and as you said @Stan it's the media attention she has been granted. I think the UN giving her such an enormous platform was pandering to the crowd. And @Tobes You just hate me anyway so I don't really care. Bruv.
That’s sort of, the entire point. If climate change continues at the current pace then large swathes of the planet will struggle to be able to sustain human life due to temperature and sea level rises, causing huge migration issues for those displaced.
Serves the human race right. We're a bunch of ****s when it comes to looking after the planet. £££ over the welfare of the planet all day long.
I’m afraid that’s the reality. Putting profit before the future of the human race. Capitalism at its finest. The lengths the fossil fuel industry have gone to in the last few decades to drive the denial agenda sums this up perfectly.
I don’t get why you’d make fun of her autism regardless of whether you think she’s over privileged and/or getting too much media attention. It’s a lazy, twattish way to have a pop at a child.
