I'm not miffed I forked out that £35. It's enabled me to get to a fair few away games plus a fiver off all home games. I've been to 5 I can think of off the top of my head plus Wolves on Saturday so I'm going to get more than my money back by the end of the season.

It is when you're giving them a whole end and splitting the most vocal home support too.

I meant specifically to this, I just think double bubble for non STH's is a bit extreme. You should have had a discount too imo.

So the ST lasts the later of (1) 15 years time and (2) 10 years after they get promoted to the PL.

(And presumably (3) the death of the ST holder. Edit: Actually that would be a restrictor to the above. Not a third option!)

    Interesting idea.

Given that our away form has been better than our home form, maybe giving the Spuds the entire Northam end is a cunning plan to make the players think that they are away.
Even without the extra 500 or so tickets, they still would have had the majority of the end, so I won’t be fretting over it.
The problem lies, if I am not mistaken, with the police not allowing us to move visiting fans to a different area of the stadium, which I don’t quite understand.
Those who went to Leicester can confirm, but the last time I went there the away fans were tucked in the corner of the stadium, the furthest point from the road in and out, and the away fans have to pass the home fans to get to their turnstiles.
If they can do it there, safely, we could do the same and put away fans next to the Chapel end, in the corner of the Kingsland stand. Then, when extra tickets are needed for cup games, they get a small section of the Chapel.
At the end of games the visiting fans could be held back for 15/20 minutes or contained outside the stadium in that corner, until the home fans have dissipated.

I've always thought it was a ridiculous situation to give the away fans part of the Northam. The club (under Cortese I think) did try to move them but as you say, the old bill objected. As far as I can remember, they said something about away fans coming out in amongst the home fans which doesn't make any sense because they all mingle going over the bridge anyway. Anything that causes the police to do more than the minimum is too much.

£10 ? I'll have some of that and take my mate or (at a pinch) wife I thought.
No bloody chance, despite an acre of unbooked seats around me in block 12, computer says no.
So I'll put up with a couple of beers with my mate or (at a pinch) wife and suffer Dynamic Dave on Solent.

We're going to win and make 5k spurs fans look silly. I guarantee you if it goes to a replay we won't get 15%

Yeah I agree that the bigger problem is where the away fans are generally, didn't the club say relatively recently that they're in discussions with the old about trying to move them?

It's just frustrating on top of the poor Palace and Leicester allocations, other clubs seem to do everything possible to help the fans at home or make sure more can go away.

Whereas our club quite clearly couldn't give a **** about us, and aren't even bothered about hiding that fact.

Amateur side JS Saint-Pierroise from the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean, 6000 miles from France, have reached the last 32 in the French FA Cup.

When Nigel Pearson was appointed manager of Watford, he became a figure of ridicule, and not for the first time in his career. And I have to be honest and say, I joined with that way of thinking, it was surely a sign of pure desperation that a club that had already canned two mangers by December was turning to a man who was seemingly one part passionate to two parts volatile. No way was this go to pan out well! Yet, now just over one month later, I know it feels longer but its not! He is getting the absolute maximum out of his squad. Gone are the cliques and the moans, along with the ill discipline & awful displays. And in comes the sort of form that sits at the top of the table & a lot of smiles from players who not that long ago were planning their escape.
Saints & Leicester fans shouldn't be too surprised seeing this pan out as it has so far, as we were both touched by the most miraculous of escapes with NP at the helm. But time seems to enjoy forgetting him, unless he is being facetious to a journo or pinning a player to the touch line! His reputation seems to travel far quicker than the man himself, for all the wrong reasons. And today, I wanted to put that right, because I was one of the judgmental many, who wrote him off without consideration, when in reality he has achieved far more in keeping clubs safe from the drop than all of the usual multimillionaire's like Pardew, Hughes, Pulis, Sam & Harry.
He harnesses a respect from honesty and hard work, that seems unusual in the modern age. I remember stories from our dressing room, of players being ripped into for mistakes, but rather than sulking they worked hard on improving. As a result of that, the group benefited. It's not rocker science, but it is rather impressive. I'm pleased to see him doing well, and hopefully, his is the stock that stops the usual suspects from resurfacing. Well done Nige, and thanks again for 2008.
(with 16 game left, there's obviously the chance for things to change, but I felt he deserved a mention for what can only be described as a stunning turnaround in form)

It's essentially a way to borrow against future earnings, and while in general that's not a spectacular choice, it makes sense in the context. The amount of money generated from even a thousand of these tickets is substantial for a Championship club. But over 10 years as a PL club (even if they only reach the PL at a time when ticket prices have jumped) the annual revenue loss isn't so much pocket change as the paperclip and torn receipt you find while digging for pocket change.

The biggest risk here isn't financial, it's goodwill: even though the scheme goes on until they reach the PL, or the heat death of the universe, whichever comes first, you're always risking some raw nerves when asking your most devoted followers to fork over such a large sum, because every move you make thereafter will be viewed through that lens. Fail to fill a hole and people will question whether they're really committed to getting to the PL and making good on the arrangement.

Always plan your retirement so you don't take the bad jobs when it arrives......

Former Colombia international and Southampton midfielder Jhon Viáfara was extradited to the US on drug-trafficking charges this morning. He's accused of helping smuggle more than two tonnes of cocaine out of Colombia. His alias was "El Futbolista."

Saying that, if he didn't get caught he'd never have to work again! Two bloody tonnes!
