The latest word tonight is that Maddison has turned down our contract offer. Either way ...he’s not exactly giving the impression that he is desperate to play for us.
The loudmouth Posh chairman also Tweeted that two other Championship clubs are in for him. He’s playing for fvcking Peterborough, not Real Madrid !
Forget him. He isn't even that good. Let's hear about some other targets, hopefully decent ones like Ivan Toney...
Yes, that was what his asking price was said to be playing for Peterborough in L1 Given what has happened this week with Maddison & Gallagher, and our bid for a guy who has never played for Sheff Utd, it’s not looking quite so rosy IMO.
Good question. I had a feeling it would not be signed quickly - I think there is some hard nosed haggling going on behind the scenes. But if the contract is not signed by the beginning of next week (Mon 20th Jan) then the effect on our efforts to sign decent players will begin to really hurt. It's not doing us any good already. I really hope Bowyer and Southall can resolve this matter soon, or the delay could cost us our Championship status. If this transfer window is wasted, staying up with more or less our current squad will be entirely a matter of the injury crisis seriously easing off. That kind of luck will always be a factor, but I don't want it to be the deciding factor - knowing our rotten injury luck to date.
That's a given. It's extremely rare for a recovered player to drop straight into a team and play a blinder. Nearly always they need two or three matches. It was good to see Forster-Caskey and Williams on the team sheet again, but even if they don't break down they'll need a bit of time. Less so for JW perhaps, but certainly for JFC. And there is no guarantee our injury crisis will abate either. We could continue losing players to new injuries as quickly as others return.
There may even be an opportunity on the bench for Mr 'Fatty' @Clb74 A picture from his youth team … notice the length of his shorts
It does appear that the player Matt Southall was referring to, who has asked for an extra £1,000 a week to come, is Maddison. Southall says he asked Gallen if the player was worth it, and SG replied that he wasn’t. Oh dear. Unfortunately this doesn’t help us for Saturday. Are we really going into yet another difficult league game with only young Josh Davison up front ? And now with a midfield containing a very significant, Gallagher sized hole ???
